Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

Hey @billyz, there was a very nice truck north of you in Mt. Vernon, 2003LX with 242k miles, one owner, and all service records from the Lexus dealer. It was in good condition and drove really well.

I went as far as a pre purchase inspection, but we couldn't agree on price. They wanted 8800, I thought it was worth between 6 and 7 based on the issues I saw, main one being possible issue with AHC (suspension felt fine, would go into high mode, but not low mode), some other smaller stuff like axle seals, transfer case seepage. That being said, I think it would make a nice truck for someone, and I got a better vibe from these people than any other used car dealership I've ever been to.

If you'd like, PM me and I can send pics of the underside and the inspection report. This was a couple of weeks ago, and I found another truck, but the dealer just called and left me a message, so they might be willing to come down further than 8800.

any tips on finding trade in vehicles? would this be at lexus/toyota dealerships?
Create a cargurus alert for dealer only, trucks that are sold at Lexus or Toyota dealers should be trade. Only target same brand dealers as they have a reputation to keel unlike the used lots.

2006 LX 470. 178k miles. 3 owners. No rust. Good service history. Minor damage to rear ds tail light and bumper (fixed like new). Sold for $15,200.

PS: Not mine. Seller was kind enough to share the details.

It’s a valued resource to have this available. To many refuse to comprehend the “Market”. Usually the “Blue book says”, or “($10,000 in mods=$300 extra value) devaluation of the un informed buys tend to Post pone sales of these marvelous Machines.
It’s obvious there are The few and far between variables that change asking price, Yet this thread can give parameters and guidelines. Spectacular forum full of many good members. Occasionally a bad comment or two, Yet overall for Yota guys this is the place. Keep it going strong !

Reviving an older thread. Are values skyrocketing or is it just me? Recently picked up an 06 LX470 from TX. 216k miles for $16k. Had to go out of state, CA prices seem to easily command 10-15% more.

its getting more expensive esp if its clean and not rusty

Values have definitely gone up. I bought my 06' LX with 135k miles a year ago for $16,500.

Frankly, my jaw has been dropping a lot on here lately. People are asking so much for these trucks, it's crazy.

Ultimately the market will set the price, but I would recommend to buyers that they search locally. I'm seeing people ask 2x on mud what I've seen similar trucks sell for around me.

COVID prices increased and set a bar for people to get out and explore. The prices have not dropped back down. Rust free clean examples are not easy to find.... with well maintained models a premium.

That amongst the overland craze. Vehicle pricing, through the roof. Trails - messy. YouTube and IG content - off the charts.

It's an interesting time. I can't imagine selling or buying right now. Best of luck to you all!

Interesting the “COVID Pricing.” Waited two years to find the one I finally pulled the trigger on. Full service at mother Lexus since day one. Half the ones I see for sale look like Swiss cheese. Glad I waited.

I found two really good ones and ended up buying the one with higher mileage (233K). The one still available is at Putnam Lexus in CA. I think it is a 2001 LX 470 with 142k miles. It was the dealership owner own vehicle. They are asking 15K. Link here. The one I got is a 2002 and had a freaking huge service history, showing all records back to 2 miles. Everything required maintenance wise was always done at the Lexus dealer and the undercarriage was damn clean. Same for the engine bay. Everything worked on the car, AHC included and it just got a new windshield. I paid $9500 but took me quite a while to find the perfect one.
Now, Capital Cadillac in Smyrna, GA, has two LX 470s for sale. The 2004 one, I was going to buy it but found out the AHC was removed from the car. It just had the timing belt/water pump done last week and the break lines done at their own dealership. It is priced at 16K what IMHO is too high considering no AHC, etc. A bit rusty but IMHO nothing too bad at all.
They also have a 2002 I believe.

That's an amazing price! I lost an auction for a 190k truck that went for 195k yesterday on BaT

Why hasn't the California 2001 LX 470 sold yet? Looks super clean, just no frame pictures.

One major PITA with this dealership is they refuse to sell out-of-state. You must be in CA and have documents/etc to prove it or no sale. Dealer policy and I asked why. Answer, 'dealer policy'. Probably that is the main issue. Being the owner's vehicle I can bet it is in perfect shape and of course with all the maintenance done there and up to date. Almost certainly a very good buy for someone looking for a very clean example with all the history. Now for the price, not sure if it is worth but given what I am seeing on BaT and CarsAndBids, it seems very cheap

It was a very fair price at the time. Definitely feels like a deal today. I've been tempted to sell, but we love the truck and I'm just enjoying the lack of depreciation.

Locally, a friend recently bought an 01' LX with 161k miles for $10,200. Seeing similar trucks listed here anywhere from four to eight thousand more. That's why I recommend people be patient. That said, I don't blame anyone for trying to get top dollar on their sale.

They are really over priced and over hyped, 15 year old vehicles get that much money/ ridiculous.... it’s not like they go 500,000 miles with low maintenance. 😁 haha
I think the draw is that its the end of an era. Minimal tech and minimal driver assistance aids.

Picked up this ‘00 LX yesterday in Riverock Green Mica. 238 on the clock, southern kept, basically zero rust, AHC/AVS in good shape. Sunroof won’t open (but seems fixable). Front seats replaced, new radiator, Heater hoses upgraded, tons of other maintenance

$8500. Still feels crazy to pay that for a 21 year old truck with that mileage, but I think it’s fair given what some trucks around here are going for... and that COLOR— only one I’ve seen for sale in the last 6-9 months anywhere.

How did you find it and how long were you searching? How many trucks did you pass on?

I’d say seriously looking for 3 months. I just missed out on two deals (one I even got “the” call... but apparently the first person had put money in escrow already and the seller was forced to take it). I saw a few vehicles in person, but passed on a super low mileage ‘00 for rust, and an ‘06 for general lack of love. The newer transmissions drive really well— I’d recommend them for long commute DDs. But the ‘00-01s really checked that nostalgia box for me, and the head units are much easier to swap out than the ‘02+ obsolete integrated Nav units.
Best of luck to you!
