Mine thus far has to be removing the crank nut while the engine is out of the car.

I'm a :banana::wrench:, so...

removing front bumper & installing SROR, due to not having the right tools the first time.

But now, gas is only $149.9 in Indiana. Buwhaha. I'll enjoy that while it lasts. Not to Hi-jack this thread, but if anyone wants to add this info to their hellish story, what kinda milage are people gettin? I average 14 to 14.5 mpg. I'm very happy with that.

IM/EM R&R with that damned oil/exhaust cooler thing with the rusty flex hose whose nuts you can't get at with anything except a crowfoot socket. And the 57' of vacuum tube.

Hands DOWN, with out question....
Removing 20 year old wood grain paneling!!!!:bang::mad::bang:
There is no more TEDIOUS and FRUSTRATING project than that!

Chicago

Changing the transmission and transfer case in my garage by myself with no transmission jack.

Replacing a motor-mount, in the dark, in the rain, on the street. Was laying on my back, essentially in the gutter, and a river was running down my neck/back/leg...

i had more fun doing the engine swap/lift/front axle service/brakes than that heater core.

oil pan gasket replacement
it was my first "real" wrenching project, did it in a very generous guys driveway over the course of several days. It was just a beat-down, every time I thought I was "just about done", there was something more to do.

I think I replaced the timing cover gasket at the same time, and the Tstat (hey, while I'm here) and maybe something else as well.

Taking on something like that is a big job and a great way to get to know your vehicle (and to get over the fear of working on something unknown).

Big thanks again to Tom Boyd, who was generous enough to loan us the driveway and some tools.

I'll say.........water pump.......not the hardest ......but dont know what they were thinking....should be way easier to get to

Im feeling you........I did my diesel conversion (outside) in Wa. Started in late fall (rain), ended in Light snow (Dec.)

the gas tank trying to get it past the rusted sway bar brackets or trying to chase the wire to the quater panel to replace the plug that was all coroaded from being in the norhtheast

Radiator had to pull half the front of the truck off to get it out
