Hi All,
My name is Dan, I bought a 1997 LC off a member here down in Tuscon back in 2015. Earlier this year Ava was killed when a car thought it was a good idea to make a left in front of a 5000-pound tank. Over the process of parting out my 80 I was able to meet with a few of you and really enjoyed talking to you guys. A month ago I picked up a new Land Cruiser (2007) I'm going to try and be a little more active on the board than I was my first go around.

So Hi all.

Pics of the old rig in all its glory and the new project.

Welcome to the club!

So what are your plans for the new cruiser? Going to mod or keep her stock?

After nearly 3 years with my FJ80 I felt like it was overbuilt for what I do, I did love driving the tank and probably would have never sold it. But after the wreck, I reconsidered the platforms. Part of the reason I went with a 100 series is I wanted a little more daily driving comfort and I was willing to sacrifice a little off-road capability. Camping, hunting, and skiing trips are going to be the weekend warriors duty, I'm not going to be hitting the rock crawling trails and looking for trouble.
I probably won't end up doing steel bumpers but the @Kavik aluminum front bumper does look really nice. Rock sliders will probably be next on the list, something with a step for my dog. I've already added 33's (fj80 had 34.5's) and a nice cheap roof rack (150 pounds capacity versus the fj80's 400+ pound capacity rack) so I feel like I'm in a good place for now. First camping trip coming soon so we will see what areas of improvement are needed.

@murf sold the 22's to help pay for the new tires and got a set of tundra wheels I really like on this rig. I'm pretty happy with where she sits but there's always little things to add. I'm considering adding some grunt to the muffler, had one on my 80 and really liked it, the torque increase was noticeable and I like a little grumble.

I've invested about $k3000 in preventative maintenance and upgrades in the first month of ownership, probally need to take a break and give the bank account some time to build.

Welcome aboard...more officially!
