Where you see the pressure on mine is as high as it goes. Either my relief spring is a little stiffer than most or my sender is a little off compared to the rest.

Did you replace your relief spring? I've got one for each 80 sitting in my parts box for a year now....

Jeez Doug - you should have let me know so I could have persuaded you to jump in the back and help with the re-install ;) Won't get the head, injectors or turbo back until Monday afternoon so maybe you can still make it?? :hillbilly:

After a $370 tow my rig is at the shop and later tomorrow morning I am leaving the country so it will be taken care of when I am gone. When ever I get a full report I will let you guys know. This sucks:mad:

Sorry to hear this Tony--

You seemed to be wheeling fine on Friday....

What happened??

What were your indicators to stop and have it towed?

Let us know how it goes...and nice to meet you by the way..

Lessee, ride in the back of an 80 for 24 hours of driving with a very old Rotweiler mix who's sweet but farts and miss a cool trip up North this weekend with my family. Hmmmmmm, boating and fishing and bike riding with my family at a beautiful resort for a week......or wrenching with Mike? Well, I like to swing a wrench, believe me. But I think I'll take Door Number Two, Vanna!!!

Heh... If I were going down as well, I'd love to stop by and see how the pressurized crowd's engine bays look. Rain check?

Nope, but it could have been replaced by the former owner (I bought it with 113k). I have most of their records but some are not there.

I refuse to answer the mileage question on the grounds I may cause my headgasket to blow. So I will provide a picture of the mileage taken about 2 months ago.

What the Hell is that green square around the D?

Mr. T decided I would know if there was no light lit, then I would know I was in D and he gave me one less light on my dash to look at in the dark.

140K OEM and lovely, lovely green coolant.

almost buttoned back up...

Wow! solid gold exhaust manifold. SuperBling! :D

The final tally for this in my case was:

~$550 from Toyota for parts.

$144 RC Engineering to do the injectors

$695 to have the head tested, re-surfaced and a valve job

~$100 from local auto parts stores for misc sealant, vacuum hose, cleaners, solvents, etc.

Total $1489

The Toyota tab is higher as I replaced the VSV/EGR stuff, used new studs and nuts on the EGR, exhaust manifold, AC idler pulley & the idler for the other two belts, new belts, timing chain tensioner, new spark plugs, fuel filter...

I also tried to replace all the vacuum lines and rubber hose I could find while in there.

All in all, more than I really wanted to spend but I'm hoping this can go awhile before I have to address anything I just touched. Here's hoping the block doesn't crack next week
