Sorry for more questions but got to ask.

1) Truck started running kinda ruff so i went ahead and replaced all of my vacuum lines and that did not help. They needed it though. Took out the FSM and made sure all of them were right. Tested vacuum switch for fuel cut and tested fine, however the same thing it is supposed to do when you pinch the hose it will do when the truck is warmed up. Not when the truck is cold mind you just when warmed up to op temp. Does it at about 1400 RPM's.

2) Next thing i did was plug the top vacuum hole on the EGR valve and see if the truck would run better, as it had alot of hesitation and not liking hills anymore at all. Of course it ran better but now it does not want to start when it is cold out, even with full choke it takes some playing with to keep her running till she warms up. Once she warms up she runs like a skalded dog, which is a good thing. Any idea why she is so hard to warm up now ?

Thanks for any and all help / ideas.

Forgot to say i also needed to get the truck inspected, of which they never even opened the hood.

Any ideas of the not wanting to start when cold now ?

Ya usually about 5 times then pull on choke and would fire right up. Now it takes about 5 times of doing this entire thing and then still have to play with the gas pedal. Strange sound from under hood too until it warms up.Kinda like something is open that should not be, but thought that would just be the Valve itself. Now that i have a day off today i am going to get into this thing and try to fix whatever is not right. Just wondering if others had pulled the vacuum line off had the same starting problems, as its not really worth it to me.

all i can suggest is get out your FSM again and start tracing lines. might have forgot or bumped something hence the weird sound you hear at startup.

especially all the carb vac lines!

Went out and plugged that vacuum line back in and started the truck. Started like the old way. While running and still cold went under the hood and disconnected that vacuum line again and kept running good. Shut it off and started good again. It warmed up slightly so now it is cooling back off and will try it again. Maybe the valve was stuck in a wrong (?) position.

Think it was cold, but have been asleep once or twice since then.

Think it made a difference ?

i disconnected my EGR when it was warm & it runs and starts fine. i'm pretty sure the EGR sends/cuts off vacuum to something else like the VSV as it warms up. like you said, maybe it stuck something else open causing hard cold start.

Went out there and started it again cold and it was just fine.

Learn something new today i guess.

Thanks man.

Any idea on the fuel decel vacuum switch now ? As per the FSM if you pinch it off while it running about 1600 rpm it will idle down and come back up to rpm and then do the same thing again. Mine does this very same thing when warmed up to operating temp . I have it unplugged right now. If i plug the line it will keep doing it so i left it open right now. I know it is a vacuum leak but it will not run right with it hooked up ( ? ) .
