G'day Team,
First time poster, long time viewer. I have a 89 model HJ60 that I retrofitted and 92 model 1HD-T into out of a wrecked HDJ80. Had the engine in for around 30'000km and she's blown a turbo (in quite a spectacular fashion), so I've got the engine back out and stripped down.
When I installed the engine I didn't get the chance to manipulate a fan shroud for it, has anyone had experience in what to use in this situation? Thermo fans? Or stick with another model shroud possibly? Keen on your thoughts. Thanks in advance crew 💪

If it was cooling ok before the turbo detonation - I'd 100% do your best to make a shroud work and continue with a mechanical fan. My experience with thermofans is that they don't even come close to flowing as much air as a mechanical fan is capable of. I know others have had a different experience and are quick to defend thermofans though

If I was towing something it used to get a bit warm in the summer time but I'm 98% sure that it was a fuel pump timing issue more then anything. Thankyou for your reply 🙂
