I have run most of the Kokopelli, Hell's and Fins in nearly stock configuration.

This video shows my truck completely stock with the exception of BFG ATs in 285 flavor (optional) and running board removal (mandatory).

I assume you have the rear hitch? If so, it acts as an excellent skid plate on the rear to protect the Tupperware. leave it on. Aside from that, some people will remove the rear bumper cover plastic which will give you more clearance and ensure no damage to the cover plastic but will expose the body and potentially invite more damage.

Oh and if you are asking because you are attending cruise moab....a CB with mag mount antenna or 2M with your license :)

They use CB's at CM? I wont go just based on that.

.

Well, communication is essential, and while Ham radio is clearly better it just isn't practical to require everyone to pass a test and spend 2x more on their communication setup. So yeah, CB is used at CM but the actual communication is on 2m. :D

And to the OP- if you're going to CM then focus more on maintenance and basic recovery gear (strap, gloves, etc.) at this point, no need to go buy a bunch of new crap you likely won't need or use.

re: Video.... I love the hitch taking out the camera LOLz

Touché

Edited!

you need to bring a "thick skin". get ready to be surrounded by an overwhelming crowd of 80 series owners that stare at you like you don't belong. you may even hear a "whats that guy doin here?" if you listen closely. To sum it up " I went to cruise moab and all I got was this lousy 80 series t-shirt"

Thanks, that is nice information, yes i am planning to attend to CM, but it sound that to much touch on rear and front bumper. My LX only have 2.5" lift and 35" tires, probable will be a good idea to wait until have more protection. anyway it is a nice video.

heheh it is funny, but is true, i been ones with my 80 and nothing to care about just drive and enjoy, but drive the 80 from the east coast is a really pain!, I understand that the hundies are the future, but need to be well built.

No running boards, prepare to scrape front and rear. Otherwise it'll do them all just fine stock.
I can imagine after see the video.

You've got a lift and 35's? In that case with good driving you could do all of those.. first one I'd cross off the list is Cliffhanger, mainly because there are a couple ledges where you could smack a rocker. but you can jam on Hells and Fins all day and be fine with good line selection. You shouldn't have any problems with Kokopelli either.. and you wouldn't even be the only 100 series.

apparently Dockers, loafers, cardigan and some Grey Poupon. Oh yeah, and a snorkel...

2 weeks ago. Yes

These are the worst spots for the 100 series.

You will drag front and back here, hard too. And at the top you will drag sliders. I think there is a bypass but what's the fun in that?

This spot is tight and tippy for the 100 but very doable, especially with a good spotter.

Absolute trust in your spotter is important here. The exposure is impressive and consequences are severe, it's not terribly technical just exposed.

few more pichers. You will come out of the canyon with pin striping as there are several miles of run in the bottom going through tamarisk and willow.

Yeah last year one of the trail leaders kept joking around with me asking if I had busted a CV yet... etc. ... Until I told him his wife had just called and want the Lexus for a mall run....

In all reality we are the few there. But everyone I met there was awesome! I ran with all types and everyone was there to have a good time. When I ran Fins and things we had a 2wd truck with us. He tried everything and yeah we had to winch him a couple of times. But, everyone and I mean everyone was happy he was going for it.

Have fun, try as much as you can and if you dont know already... you will learn a ton about how to drive and what these rigs can do...

I was there about 2 (maybe 3) weeks ago as well, didnt have my 100 though. Ran it in my buddies FJC, its really pretty down in bottom of the canyon. Like you said its got some really tight spots, and I remember all the ones you have pictured, they are way less intimidating in the pictures.

I have mad respect for you, I dont think I would ever take my 100 through there.

^ I want to run that when I move outwest. Bookmarked :D

Dont let the pictures fool you....

I've been truly nervous in my truck 2-3 times. That climb out of the canyon (3rd photo) with the off camber section is one of them. You feel like you are inches from the edge when in fact you are still several feet. I can see someone hitting the gas at the wrong moment making a vehicle go over.

The buggy or whatever that is mangled at the bottom of the canyon a half mile or do further up on the climb out is also very sobering.

How many times do you drag the tail pipe in an instance like this?
What's the damage factor?
In all of Slee's rear bumper strengths, this is the main area I still feel exposed to the elements.
