I am considering a 4k mile outing in December. Can someone local to Moab comment on snow conditions and maybe some advice? The trip will go OR/NV/UT/NM/TX- and the return will be dependent on what the boss says....

I've done the Moab area a number of times during the Xmas time period mainly because I knew no one would be on the trails. :)

Some of the trails were very difficult; some were so-so; some required chains.

Check the weather forecast and the snow coverage and plan accordingly.

Yah the Wx forecast is the key to a lot of the trip. I am building the sleeping platform/storage area in the next few weeks. Lift and tires next week. Definitely doing Big Bend on the way home! Thanks for the reply~

A new set of chains for the 285's is on my short list.....

The main thing to watch out for in Moab is that when there's precip of any kind that desert dirt turns into the slickest slime you've ever seen. It can be bone dry cold and crisp in December but if it happens to rain or snow things can get epic real quick.

Epic. Noted lol
