Hey all,
We're going to head out to Moab for a few trail runs and some great family hiking. We'll be heading out on Friday 12th this month and camping for 10 days!!! Woo Hoo! If anyone is going to be out there that time frame and would like to join us we'd love to have some more cruisers along for the fun. Drop me a note at gooutsideandplay@gmail.com.

...and also!

I just saw that theres a trip to Moab in Oct. This would be a great chance to pre-run anything you wanted to out there and be all practiced up for the oct Chris

I''ll be in the southern Utah deserts during this time as well--Monday the 15th-Fiday the 19th....I'll be at Powell for a couple of days and then basically going where I want to. I don't know if I will find my way over to Moab. It doesn't impress me that much. I prefer the back country roads in Escalante, Monument Valley, and the like....maybe we'll run into each other at a gas stop!

Happy trails.

Hi Chris and welcome to the HDC forum!

This will be our 2nd annual Fall Moab trip. We hope to get a good turnout again this year and we are thinking this may be an annual trip for our club. A lot of the guys in our club have made several treks up to the Moab area, including the annual TLCA event during May. You'll enjoy your 10 days there and there are a lot of different areas to visit.

Where are you from and where are you planning to spend your time in Moab?

Hi Mike and thanks for the welcome. We're going to be doing a good bit of hiking and with no other rigs along, I hesitate to do anything more than about a 3. I'd love to do Poison Spider again, but not without a group. Thought about Top of the World as we've not done that before and it looks pretty tame. We're going to go slot canyon hunting for hikes and plan on lots of great food and relaxing!

In case anyone's out there looking, we'll be in our 96 LX450, 285 BFG ATs, 2" OME, custom safari, fully locked, tan paint with lots of New Mexico pin striping.

There is a 2 or 3 day trail... I think it is called the White Rim trail. Supposed to be pretty good but slots are hard to come by.

We did Elephant Hill during our October trip last year. I wouldn't worry about doing that without another truck along and you will be fine with the 285's and the 2" lift. There are several camp sites over the hill in the canyon but you will have to have reservations. That is a nice place for a 3 day trip with biking and hiking.

If you are a HAM, there are some repeaters in the area that you can reach from Canyonlands. Let me know and I will send you the frequencies. Pappy was telling us that UT is building a linked repeater system like our NM Mega-Link system. They call it the Sinbad system. A good communication system gives you more confidence when taking a multi-day trip in the remote areas.

The Canyonlands area is sandwiched between two great repeaters ... Henry Mountains (Mt Ellen, 147.08+, 136.5) and Montecello (Abajo Peak, 146.61-, 88.5). You should be able to hit one or the other from anyplace in Canyonlands. I'm certainly going to try in October.

Onur,
If you are near Monument Valley, you need to go look at the place where Airwolf was stored.

Because, there is nothing greater than Airwolf.. just ask Ernie Cline:
