Crossposted from General tech because I had no idea where to put this.

HE has a "2002 troop carrier style land cruiser 3rd world edition." His 4wd stopped working. He sent this picture of the part he found dangling under it.

He isnt the worlds most mechanical person so if anyone has any idea what this is and could help I would appreciate it.

If anyone happens to be in Haiti just run by and help him out LOL.

That's the transfer indicator switch.

84222-60041 is the Toyota part number. If he has fleet maintenance support tell him to call those folks and order one up from Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings (whom will more than likely be their point people for spare parts out side of his mission organization).

Maybe the 4WD is working, but the light is not. I'm not making a statement about inteligence... but a non-mechanical person may not be able to tell the difference. It is tough to say given the communication issues and sparse information. However, it is almost certain that the indicator light is non-operational.

Always a possibility. It is hard to me to diagnose anything from North Carolina. I passed the information on to him. Thanks for all the help.
