Hello everyone, Vince here, so my 2004 lx470 that I acquired came with missing internal, what would be the best option besides going to dealer for new key. I saw some eBay selling 2 keys with fob for $40, would taking out the internal and following the steps posted on Internet to program the fob, would this work? Or has anyone buy keys on eBay and go to homedepot to get keys cut and was able to program? I know there is a thread on this but it got really confusing. Anyone can point me in the right direction much appreciated.

I bought these, worked great following the instructions posted on here. One key I had from the PO was already cut so I just switched the guts to that key. I had an extra that I tried getting Lowes to cut but they couldn't do it for some reason, can't remember. Plenty on here have had them cut outside of the dealer though.

If you'll look at his pic, the LX key is an internal cut. Don't know that Lowe's can do those. A locksmith shop maybe.
So, I can put in the internal from one of those key on eBay and program and this should work since my key is already cut is this correct? Anyone can confirm this or has done this before? Hate to pay the dealer $230 for new key. Thanks

That's exactly what I did. I had an already cut key with an empty shell. I took the key and placed it into the Ebay shell that I linked and programmed, no issues.

For reference, I purchased (through EBay) a wireless remote key for about $45. I sent the seller my key code (can be free sourced from any Lexus dealer if you show ownership) and the key arrived pre-cut. I can't find the item at the moment to provide a link as the seller is away for like two weeks, but I think his EBay name is BBlocks. I used the instructions I found here on the forum - works great.

Thanks for the info.

Laser cut key. Lexus, or a good locksmith can cut these. Our local Ace hardware just got their machine to cut these - did not work...
