I was wondering if anyone out there had some good advise for the mini truck disc conv. I have thought of getting the kit from JT outfitters but was seeing if there was a cheaper way that works just as well. I have a 74', wanting to do disc and an SOA conversions.

Recomend or not????

it is a good idea..

On older Fj40s, the mini truck disc conversion is probably one of the very first things changed. The most two popular mods on the older crusiers, IMHO, are the disc brake conversion, front and rear, and the power steering convresion. In my case, the power steerng conversion was like night and day in the differance in the steering. Read the tech articles, lots of info there on how to ge started. Come back here if you have a particular question that needs addressing. As you can imagine, with boards like IH8MUD, this subject has been discussed 'ad nausem'(sic) in the past. We like to deal with particular out of the ordinary problems you might have. But at the same time, don't ever feel like you can't ask questions. Genearlly, all posts get responses.

For the front...

Go with a mini truck or FJ6x conversion. Don't do a kit, unless it's a "kit" made up of the mini truck or FJ components.

buy a complete mini axle, use everything from the knuckles out, sell the diff and housing to a mini truck guy to recoup much of the original purchase price and tell jto where to shove it:D

It doesn't seem like there are a whole lotta people that like JTO around here.
