I have a 96 with the 24 valve inline 6 and coil spring suspension that was involved in a low speed roll over. Engine, trans, and driveline are solid. Still runs and drives. I also have an 89 with a clean interior, good glass, and rust free body. It is a driver. Was hit in passenger front. Have all of the crash parts for that all ready.
The ULTIMATE FJ62 project is to put the 89 body on the 96 chasis. The wheel base and everything works.
I have had all of this for over a year now and have done nothing but collect parts.
Somebody with more time and ambition than I should make this a reality.
I am sure you have seen the FJ60's with the V8 swaps that sell for a mint. I don't understand that because you still have to deal with that leaf spring chasis and no fuel injection.
This project will give you the cool old school look with the engine and chasis refinements found in the FJ80's.
I would love to see someone complete this project. All the parts are here.
All this is a steal at $4500.Clean stock 62's sell for over $3000. By the way this one passed the emission test and I have the paperwork.
A non rolled 80 is worth $5000.
When you are all done you have an entire running, rolling 62 chasis to sell and a ton of parts off the 80 body.
All said and done you could have the ULTIMATE FJ62 and have under $3000 in it. You could sell it and double your money easy.
Clean titles for both.
You can drive the 89 away.
You can drive the 96 onto a trailer or drive it away with a full face helmet or goggles. (Broken windshield)
