Metal finish question--engine turning

Does anyone have any experience/advise relating to engine turning a curved piece of metal? The piece in question is a motorcycle gas tank, but I see some fj40 applications too.

I have a drill press. I know Eastwood offers a kit, but I'm worried about the curves.
