Has anyone come up with a plan for that weekend? I come back into town the night of the 22nd so I will be ready to roll wherever. Just need to know what the plans are so I know what to plan for. I would love to do an extended trip somewhere. 3-4 days, possibly.

I will take the lack of responses as a no?

The discussion so far has been along the lines of West Bar / Douglas Creek.

Depending on what we want to do, we could camp at a different spot each night.

The short of it is a trip that involves camping Friday-Monday in eastern Washington. There exists the potential to leave Thursday evening.

Anyone interested in part or all of this adventure? As I put things together we could have a quick meet up before hand.

Sounds good to me. I rearranged my return flight to where I fly in that Wednesday night. So if we leave Thursday night, I'm good with that.

Pardon my ignorance, but whereabouts is this? Is there wheeling nearby that I was unaware of?

My brother and I were brainstorming ideas of where to go wheeling, and I was trying to talk him into Brown's Camp down in Oregon- but in-state sounds promising...

Momma and the kiddo are out of town for that week, so my dance card is empty and she gave me the green light to go have fun while she's gone B-)

Fathers day weekend I'm already planing to camp up near Haney Meadows on Blewett Pass when the Liberty trails there open up.

The West Bar area is on the Columbia in the Colockum Wildlife area, which is one of several small wildlife units in the L.T. Murray wildlife area NE of Ellensburg.

These areas are closed until May 1st for wintering Elk and are generally passable after March. There might be some snow up at higher elevations (Colockum Pass) but I doubt it.

We did a long trip last year that involved leaving pavement in Ellensburg, camping out on the bar for 2 nights, then heading north into Wenatchee to resupply. After that, we headed east to some BLM land to meet up with some more cruiser guys near Douglas Creek for another night of camping and exploring, along with a bit of swimming.

If we're interested in more driving than camping, the Wenas area south of 90 (West of Yakima) is also a nice area, and we've got a favorite spot to camp for the night out there as well.

Many of the wildlife areas often have burn bans, which is something to consider for camping.

I vote west bar or wenas, By more driving do you mean takes longer to get there, or just more camping for a night and cruising to a new spot all while being on dirt roads?

I liked Douglas, but not worth the extra drive to me. I guess there is probably still a lot to explore there though. May be a silly Q. but is Scott working his way down to join us?

Yeah. I say if we leave Thursday evening we stop somewhere and camp that night before we hit West Bar. But if we leave early Friday, I don't see any reason why we can't drive all the way in to West Bar. I'm really down for anything though. I just need to know what to plan for.

I like the idea of leaving pavement around Liberty and heading East. A quick glance at a map makes it look like we could take NF roads over to Naneum Ridge road.

Any concern about snow at the end of May?

Aaron said that he was available for a 3 day but hasn't said whether he's in for sure.

I'm alright if we leave out Douglas Creek, the drive home was damn long last time and who knows what traffic will be like coming back over the pass after a long weekend.

We might need to look at closures from the fires last year, as well.

Traffic is guaranteed to suck over the holiday weekend. Douglas Creek would be cool if it was warm enough to swim but I doubt that's even an option this time of year. There may be some snow at higher elevations but it shouldn't really be a concern, I wouldn't think.

It's getting close. Any new details?

I'm pretty sure I can make it, as long as my tires can handle the trails since I'm due for new tires. The only thing is that i cant leave until Saturday because of work. Is anyone leaving Saturday?

Depending on volunteering and school, I might not be leaving Tacoma until Saturday morning.

We've been discussing a Friday night campsite near Liberty with a Saturday rendezvous for those that want to head out earlier. A lot of people are good for Saturday-Monday.

So it's looking like the trip is getting cut down pretty short. Is there anyone still interested in a long weekend? Thursday night/Friday morning through Monday?
