I wanted to start a thread and leave it open so we can get member input as to meeting locations, potential HAMOM's and charitable endeavors.

We have the Nov and Dec meetings arranged, as well as piggybacking with Ga Crzrs for Toys for tots.

I am working with wheelers for the wounded trying to get something set up ( apparently they are having some issues) as well as talking with my local Veterans affairs office. For those that dont know about WFTW- here is a link to their site www.wheelersforthewounded.com

So lets hear whats out there.............

ONSC is planning to visit Gulches in March. I think it would be a great time to get to know some more of their members and support the local spot. I talked to Brian a couple of weeks ago and he said they would love to get together.

The "green gate" forest roads are open, Muster Ground road by the Bad creek project would be a good camping exploring spot.

the only ones i know are.
Luker feilds on 281 not much wheeling just dirt roads -but would be a great camping-trout fishing trip- eat what you catch because there native specs small but great eating

Frye Tower. it's in the colins ck community in whittier, nc. it's a fire tower great veiws semi wheeling and you can take atvs up there.. maybe u gps guys can look it up.

I will ask around for some more.

I'll ask my Dad if he knows of anything.

Are we going to do some wheeling this year? Do we have a plan of events through the end of the year and into next year?

I'm having dt's

Here's the MUD Calender

Solid so far:
Dec. 5th with GA Cruisers in ATL...Cruiser Raffle/Toys for Tots/Wheelin'

Jan. 15-18: Build a Cruiser for a Fallen Soldier

June 7-14: GSMTR

Possible Dates:
Feb. ?: Scouting WNC/Cold weather camping

March 20-21: Gulches with ONSC (I've PM'd Brian and they are expecting us. We (BOD) just need to make it official.

May ?: I'm trying to get permission to camp on a guy's land near my parent's house. His property is on the Catawba River. Was thinking campout Fri. night. Go upstream to the dam Sat. morning and canoe back to the campsite. Prob. take a good part of the day to play on the river. Cookout, camp, and discuss final thoughts of gsmtr Sat. night.

There is a strong possibility of wheeling on Dec 5th with GA Cruisers after the 62 gets raffled off. It's less than 1 hr north of downtown ATL, behind the outlet mall in Dawsonville. Onsite camping is available too. Need to check with Ted to see how solid that plan is to wheel after lunch. I'll let you guys know what he says.

I'm really jonesing for some cruising. I haven't had my swampers on Bonnie for almost a year.
Wasn't there a thread about some cruising/camping in early Dec?
I'm afraid the 5th and 12th are out; mandatory work Saturdays. Good for BMW, good for the pocketbook, but humbug for cruising.

Maybe do Pickens the weekend before Christmas.

Most people could probably get away for the day.

Do a MM in Asheville Jan 2nd

Do the pool tournament at Barley's Feb 6th

Do a joint ride at Durhamtown with the LC guys Feb 19-21 Maybe get UC to fork out some $ for a cabin for us all to have breakfast and dinner in. Something we all can hang out in and get rowdy at night and then let everyone do their own accomodations around it.

Do a MM at Ralph Hayes Toyota March 6th

Also since our wheeling spots are getting smaller and smaller maybe a March Scouting ride. Where we all camp out in one specific place Friday night but break up in samll 3-4 vehicle groups and scout out certain areas in Western NC Sat and Sunday.

Also David Davis had a really good idea for doing some FS roads in the area. I really liked the idea.

Just some ideas.

A good idea from me, that's a first . . . .

We were at the Cuban's Saturday, talking about get togethers for UC. My thought was to meet at Caesar's Head parking lot, then head to DuPont State Forest, hike in and see triple falls. Then, back to the caravan and head over to Pisgah, stopping at Looking Glass Falls. Continue the caravan by hopping on Yellow Gap Rd. (FS gravel) at Pink Beds, then to Wash Creek, then down 479 to Bent Creek. Perhaps lunch at the "Moose Cafe" at the Farmer's Market. Then some highway miles over to Hot Springs, camping at the private campground there that has showers (hot tubs across the street). That night, we could sit around a camp fire or walk over to a bar.

Next day, get up and either head home or for the network of FS roads around Paint Rock and into the Cherokee National Forest. There is a great FS firetower at Holsten Mountain with some spectacular views. Really can help put the world in perspective.

This would be a "not even a scratch" type of ride, with the major hassle being single lane FS roads and getting oncoming traffic past us.

This is a great start for the year marshall- as long as everyone agrees I think we should get them on the books.

David this sounds like a good time, I have been up that way and it would really be a great escape from our members from SC. what time of year do you think would be best?
