Adam, Picnics (a local place) is going out of business at the end of the year.
As to Outback, everyone who works at Outback is local . . .

I have a bunch of friends who wait at places like these and they would greatly appreciate the generous tips that UCers are known for leaving. While by no means cheap, there are some economies of scale, consistency, and variety that make chain restaurants a good choice for large groups.
There are some great local places I could recommend, but please be prepared to shell out $50 a head. I eat at them whenever I get the chance and a few of them, including Barleys and Ed Boudreauxs, are owned by friends of mine. I fiqure we are headed to Barleys in Greenvile so I have eliminated that one from the list. With that caveat, here you go:
1. The Corner Kitchen in Biltmore Village. Perhaps the best restaurant I have ever been to.

2. The Purple Onion in Saluda, NC. Funky and usually has some music on saturday night. Ample parking, even closer to the Upstate.

3. The Moose Cafe at the Farmers Market in Asheville. Reasonably priced country cooking, but no alcohol (that I can recall). Lots of parking.

That's all I got folks.
