 Only you could spend 3 months getting a single pic up of your truck, and when you do, show about 1/2 of it.

If you did that on purpose, it's funny as hell.

I do like the boat.

Anybody can drive past a service shop and take a pic of a random cruiser.....I'm still not convinced

Thats the only pic i have on my phone, i rode the bike today.

Will be installing the old man emu front springs tonight along with some trim work on the sail boat. Fall is almost here and the boat needs to be water ready come winter.

If i can i'll snap pics when she's done.

I think i'll have to add some leafs to the rear spring packs to level her up, it appears that the rear sits lower than the front.

Luckily i'll have 2 40 spring packs laying around to do this with.

and the pic was taken on purpose, i was reading you guys complaining and happend to have the 40 haning half way out of the bay where i was installing the thermostat controll for my electric fan.

Me being too lazy to drive her out i figured it would be just enough to bring on more complaints!

and for the record...i put the bezel back on right side up!

the cruiser is parked in the air conditioning bay...i'd have to comb over the globe to find an early 40 with AC much less be lucky enough to find an early 40 with AC parked at our shop!

There is a very nice fully restored tan color cruiser that goes the the stying salon we share the parking lot with.

got trailer brakes ? :D

we had a poop your pants moment as a kid towing a jet boat behind a CJ (granted it was a 5) but that boat was smaller and lighter than that one. On the downhills the boat liked to take over the acceleration.

The pic of "your" cruiser is like saying that "this is my super hot wife" and posting this pic

the boat weighs about 1400 lbs.

With motor/cargo/trailer maybe 2500 -/+ fully packed down for a week or more.

no trailer brakes on this trailer (or the non rusted out one i'm restoring to put the boat on when i'm done)

Holy s***, 2500 #'s in a 40. Let me know when you head down 26 to the coast so I will stay off the road.

I towed a 1200 # boat in my 40 with 4 wheel disc brakes and at only 17' it wanted to take control of the truck.

Best of luck.

Oh Carp, nice looking wife. Here is a pic of my driveway at the new house.

You are a brave sole towing that in a SWB vehicle like the 40.... sure you have the power with the V8, but man I imagine that is going to be one twitchy ride :o I've been know to do a lot of not so aviseable actions in my cruisers through the years, but I didn't have a wife and kid to leave behind...... best of luck:hillbilly:

is your boat 1200 lbs with all the gear/motor/trailer?

My 40 will tow my 17ft bass boat on a much larger trailer as well as a 150 hp mercury on the back with little issues and she is about a 1200 lbs boat minus fuel/gear/motor/trailer.

looks like about 2000 lbs is about max for the 40 to tow comfortably.

Waiting to fill the water bladder when i get to the marina and keeping the motor in the back of the cruiser until i get into the water will save nearly 500lbs

When pulling back out it will be easy to pump out the grey water tanks and dump out all the water at the marina again before heading back.

and 2500 lbs is a MAX. guess as to total weight.

My advice. along with probably everyone else on is this board is to not do it. Get yourself a smaller boat or a bigger car.

I saw a Mazda MPV mini van pulling a 26' CC boat with twin Merc's the other day off the on ramp. That boat probably weighed 6500 #'s. He would argue that he towed his boat, but that doesn't mean he shoud have.:hillbilly:

Please be careful, that is one major haul to be towing in a 40. I don't think I would even tow it in a 60.

My neighbor has a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and is looking at buying a boat. The rating is 5000 #'s, take away the 20% safe rule and he is sticking to a 3500 # max boat. That way he can tow it on the interstate at speed and know that he can always over power the load. You my friend will be at the mercy of that boat from the time you leave the driveway.

as long as you use your head you can tow a boat with no issues, my boat will weigh about what your new center console weighs.

I towed my bass boat with a bronco II for years with no issues and it weighs much more than the sailboat.

Nice sailboat, but a nasty sky in the second pic of it.

I towed a 25' power boat with my 40 for years. You will need trailer brakes. The short wheel base makes it effortless to back down any ramp.

I towed the scout trailer (6 x 10 box loaded with camping stuff) with the Jeep ONCE! I had some one else tow it home. It was scary trying to stop. It felt like the trailer had a motor on it. Swore I would never do it again. That was before the 35's and lift.

here's another pic. Using the 40 as a moving truck. Been hauling a 1000lbs trailer full of furniture for over a week.

Hauled a couple hundred lbs of scrap metal off today.
