Mechanic in or around chevy chase , md???

Hey guys. My mazda needs its waterpump/timing belt service and I'm wondering if any of you could recommend an honest shop nearby. The weep hole is leaking pretty bad on the waterpump so closer is better!

I called the Liberty gas station that gets great reviews on yelp and he quoted me "at least" 1600-1700 which seems way way high!

That is insanely high. I just did a quick estimate to check and came up with 755.60 to change the water pump, timing belt, and idler pulleys and refill with new antifreeze.

Yeah I told him it was ridiculous and that I could tow it 90 miles to my usual mechanic in the boonies and have it towed back for almost half what he was quoting me.

If it would save me around $800, I'd consider making the trip. Have you found another local garage that will give you a better price?

I haven't called around as aggressively as I need to. The metro is a block from me so I've been using it . I'm planned to tomorrow

Just thought I would update the outcome of my search for a reasonably priced mechanic around chevy chase..... Surprisingly, the dealer in Gaithersburg was the best deal in my opinion. They wanted just over $950 which was basically the lowest any other shops closer to me quoted.

Since I don't actually need the car to get around and my parents live in winchester, I'm just having Gieco tow the thing out there! They cover the first 50 miles and the shop my family uses will do it for $420!!!!! I honestly don't know how they can do it for that cheap and stay in business....
