When I had my radiator replaced, my freindly mechanic broke one mounting tab off the upper, driver's side of the cowling. Is this going to be an issue? It is loose and I can push the cowling away from the radiator about 3 inches at the point. Thoughts?

Mine has been zip tied for quite a while. It broke at that same point that you mention. I noticed it was broken when wheeling. I came down hard in some rocks and the shroud came down and hit the fan...crazy noise, I thought something far more serious broke. Probably should replace it, but I'm spending money on other stuff right now.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Will super glue hold with the temp variations and different expansion rates between the part? Also, I am due for a timing belt in 15K miles, so I might not want to glue the thing in place, if, in fact, the glue will hold.

I'm not sweating it, until it comes loose, gets hung up in the fan, and strands my wife and kids on the side of the road in 20 degree weather.

JB Weld it. Replace it in a few thousand miles when you have to dig into the engine bay. If he broke it with his hands while charging to to fix something, he should man up and pay for it.

We have had good results with plastic welding. Takes the right equipment and some practice, but the results are pretty good. Just did an 80 series headlight that hit a post and broke two of the support legs off. Now it is good as new. Fastens in solid. John
