Matthew and Erin... That 3rd pic with Erin driving is awesome! Just something about that 80 series, posing on a rock in the trail, with a pretty young lady at the wheel.

The wagons, especially the 80 series, just seem to be a perfect fit for this trail.

Nicely done. (I think that is shirt material personally.)

Tony, thanks. We really had a great time. I know Erin was really pleased that we went on the trip...which means more TLCA events in the future for the family :). As for the shirt...that would be awesome, but there might be better candidates for that - Garett's 80 and the 55 in the Sluice look pretty good, plus they are action shots.

Thank you Jeff and Tony again for a great run! It was good to meet more Cruiser folks. As usual, everyone was quick to lend a helping hand or just interested in meeting you and checking out your rig. Great people, good weather, a fantastic trail, "What more could you ask for?"

My piggie wasn't too happy by the end of the weekend. I had been putting off driving back down to McGrew for a few years since my first trek down south in 2004. The engine has never been the same since that first trek. I have been neglecting my trail pig for a few years now (other projects) and she finally got fed up with me.

While driving home from the McGrew Sunday afternoon, we were pushing the limits for a while, 60-65 mph and I began to smell oil burning and the oil pressure began to drop. Pulled over and sure enough the engine was puking oil out of every orifice. Filled her back up and begin to limp her home. Valves and valvetrain began to make more noise, I had to stop a couple more times to buy more oil and refill the old F engine, and the oil pressure just kept dropping. Eventually, we heard the 'big bang', sorta like metal snapping/grinding and then a LOUD knocking. So, I gave in and called AAA. She made it 45 miles from home after over 500 miles of highway/backroad driving with a bit of sweet 4x-ing thrown in.

I am just about to finish last winter's project just in time to roll the trail pig into the garage for next winter's project. Hee, hee. Classic. :)

Here are a couple pics from the run also. Again, it was great meeting folks and I can't wait to hang at another TLCA event.

Carlos. OINK! OINK!

sorry to hear this news, glad you got close to home at least!

OK, new engine for next year! Yum.

Sorry to hear about your motor, Carlos. Got you pretty close tho. It was nice meeting you guys. And thanks again for the use of your hi-lift. I'm afraid duct tape won't help your motor as well as it helped my leaf spring.

Yep, I have been anticipating the catastrophic failure of the original F engine and/or 3 spd tranny for awhile now. Thus, I have been collecting parts and ideas. Just have to make up my mind and get to work...:)

Thanks Bob. I appreciate it. It was great to meet both you and Roger (right?) also. I am glad you guys made it home OK. I hope to wheel/camp with you both someday soon.

Hey Folks...

I realize it may seem as though I fell off the face of the earth. I took my family to Sun River for a week as soon as I got back from the run. Just loaded up the bikes & boat & hit the road again...but forgot the laptop (probably a good thing because I might have tried to do some work while vacationing)

Anyway ... what a great ride :), with a great bunch of people :), with a great mix of rigs :), and a great trail :) My fears of too big a group were quickly expelled when I realized that we're cruiserheads for a reason ... we love yotas & those who drive em

I really want to thank all of you for participating & making it what it was. This run has always been about the people & you were all GREAT!!! I also appreciate the really positive feedback I got and the great suggestions for next year. Tony already beat me to most of the sentiments I was hoping to post ... oh well, saved me some keyboard pecking. I'm positive we're going to be having a new format next year, with options. I'll be recruiting some regulars to help Tony & I pull it off :grinpimp:

Even though we broke the golden rule of "No Breakage", & considering the size of the group & the delays by the USFS & the 12 miles of crawling, we were only actually spread out for a 2 1/2 hour span at the end of the day. I was impressed. Since the big fire, the trail is starting to go back to its' former glory of some tougher than mild spots. We won't be advertising it as mild any longer (an experienced driver can still negotiate it with a totally stock rig & be unscathed ... but the tough part is how to get the less experienced through with the same)

Many, many, many thanks to those who contributed to the raffle. I'll give proper recognition in the Trails article. Which brings me to the next item ... please e-mail me any little stories you might have from your personal experience on the trail & any photos you think might be publication worthy (don't post em here ). I know I flaked on this last year 'cause of too many other commitments, but I'm commiting to it this time.

I'm really looking forward to another great event next year & hope to see a lot of the first timers return. In the mean time, keep the rubber side down & our parths might cross again
