Wow. And so it ends...with a wimper.
How sad.:(

Hey guys, I really want to run the trail and I know camping with this group is way fun. Now that I understand the second night of camping is the potluck and group fire, I would have never left a day early like last year. However, It is quite the haul down for camping and great times only with no McGrew run. Still undecided, but thinking about running for of the OBDR over the same time frame.

Is there anything I can do or help with the try to obtain a permit? Perhaps I'll stick my father on it too, he seems to always come through with some thing amazing when I didn't think it was possible.

What does the PNW4X4 group do? Did they not run it over Fathers Day weekend like the last 34+ years?

PNW4WDA:
About Us
The Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association (PNW4WDA) is a non-profit organization comprised of member clubs and individuals united in a common objective - the betterment of vehicle oriented outdoor recreation while preserving the environment. The PNW4WDA is divided into 8 regions covering Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

The PNW4WDA was incorporated in 1960 as the Pacific Northwest Jeep Association. The name was changed to the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association to encourage owners of other models of four wheel drive vehicles to join.

We are dedicated to preserving our environment for future generations and in that light, provide education and training in a variety of ways. Education is perhaps the only avenue that is sure to bring results.

The Four Runners of Klamath Falls host the Fathers day run, which I'm sure is posted on the PNW4WDA page.

We would certainly love to have you again, and I couldn't think of a better spot to relax after driving across the state doing one of the OBDR. As far as the permit, I have been calling occasionally but not wanting to bother them. Response is always, 'the paperwork has been submitted' and we are waiting to hear back.

I really don't want to pressure them much more as it won't help hurrying things along. So I don't really want to get anymore outside help checking on things. The ranger seems very helpful, but also feels like his hands are tired since he is trying to formulate some plan so the trail can be ran in the future by anybody.

Either way, do what you can to come down and see us! Otherwise we'll wait til CTW to meet up again

10-4, I understand. I will not contact them; I know and trust you have done everything you can do.

So the more I read of the lengthy Final Record of Decision paper, I see that Klamoth Region "6" of the PNW4WDA obtains the ONLY permit, which perhaps was already listed here. It wold be interesting to know if 'their' permit is a one time a year or anytime per year? I'll give Larry a ring and inquire.

Always fun to be with the cool Cruiser crowd, just plain old good people ;) I'll try to map something out that ends me at sour dough! I'll be at CTW too.

Cheeerrrrrssss, Ty

What is it exactly that they are protecting by closing a "trail" that pretty much parallels the fire road except it's maybe a thousand feet higher? The area between the two? :meh:

I think the more folks that contact their Senators, Congressmen and even county officials here locally will bring to light the fact that many of the folks who treasure this historic route don't take lightly that the decisions made were prejudiced against ORV's.

Ok change of news here guys. We have made good contact with the forest service and looks like they will be pushing through our trip without a permit. i have to setup the meeting details with the Ranger Monday!!!!

:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2: :beer:

I am planning to attend this year. (I try to make it every-other year.) Yes, I am checking up on you folks and my old event.
I am going to see if Jeff can join me but not sure of his status.

Will we be able to have fires?

It's completely open and all are invited. Fires, not sure of the status as of yet. Would be great to see you both down there!

Hi there guys, FNG here.

Would it be possible to ad my name to the list for the run?

As a forest service employee, I'm glad someone was able to get a meeting with the district ranger. I just got off the phone with him about what exactly is going on with the trail, as I was planning to run it this weekend (still might if I can find someone to join)

HELLO! A few things to remember for those of you that are going to run the trail:

1. Truck/Rig has to be spotless!! There can be no dirt/mud underneath your rig. Also no oil dripping or grease etc.
Please take the time to really deep clean the day before.

2. Safety: Please have a fire extinguisher, a Shovel, and an Axe.

There will be a drivers meeting and inspection prior to the trail!
