I would like to either run Nitto G2 285/75/18 or the 295/70/18 . I think the 285/75/18 might be too big as it measures 34.84 inches according to Nitto. The 295/70/18 measures 34.29 . I need some advice as my shocks have arrived for install but need to oder the tires. By the way I'm on stock rims.

Thoughts????

Thank you

Blaine

I think what you mean is...
-What will fit using Slee UCA, BP51s and NO OTHER SUSPENSION MODS...right?

I'm interested in the answer too, but I'm pretty sure there's no simple formula.
What wheel and offset? Which tire design? How "square" are the edges of the tire?

I know what some of these questions are...but I don't know enough to answer the over-all question.

Maybe Mr. Slee will swoop in and answer...? :)

Thats correct. I will be doing nothing but UCA's BP51s and thats it with factory rims.

I am open to different types of all terrain tires I just like the Nitto G2 at this point. As far as offset Im not sure if I need to order the spidertrax spacers from slee for the factory rims. I hope slee will chime in and shed some light on this.

thanks

I have no experiance with that lift, but assuming it give you a couple inches in the front?!?! So working under that assuming and then the factory wheels, I can tell you the 285/75's will require the KDSS relocation and proly some fender trimming forsure! The 295/70's will be tight on the UCA with the factory offset wheel but will proly work and would require less trimming and may not need the KDSS relocation! Just my 2 cents...

How much lift will that give you? I'm not familiar with the BP-51, but I'm running a 2" Iron Man Lift. If it's at least a 2" lift, and you replace the UCA, the Nitto 295/70/18 will fit, but you will need to remove the front mud guards and do some trimming on the front fender wells...more on the right side. You will need to run a spacer or a wheel with an offset, because the right tire will rub the LCA at full turn. The 285 will be fine width wise, but you will have to do some more trimming. I haven't tried that size, but it's basically a 35" tire, so you would probably need more than a 2" lift, and a lot of trimming. I keep saying this, but a BFG KO2 in a 285/70/18 would be the perfect tire for the LC. I know Kreiten is running that size in a MT and it looks great. I really didn't like the Nitto G2's very much...they're a super heavy tire and not as quiet as the BFG, and you'll take a big hit in gas millage. If tha's not a concern though, the 295/70 looks awesome, and is very impressive off road.

I am totally open to the BFG KO2's . I think that is a great looking tire and if its anything like its predecessor I'm sure its kiiler for both longevity and quietness. So you think the 285/70/18 KO2 will require the spidertrax spacer from slee?

thanks

I definitely don't plan to relocate the KDSS so I'm going to look in the the KO2 in a 285/70/18. Thanks for the advice. Do you run spacers on yours? If so what size?

Blaine

I don't think the KO2 is available in the 285/70 R18, the KM2's are, that's what I'm running on mine. The KM2's in the 285/70 do not require the KDSS relocation and would not require wheel spacers(adapters) with the stock wheels. I'm now running after market wheels(Fuel 18x9 20mm), I did have to trim the plastic on the front fender and remove the front mudflaps. This picture was before adding the Toyota front coil spacers in the front, as you can see it was within a couple millimeters of hitting the fender...

I would say anything over 34 will require the KDSS to be relocated, just from eyeballing it, maybe Slee or someone else can chime in on this... but my guess is anything over 34 and your gonna need to relocate the KDSS and add bigger bump stops!

I talked to someone at Slee (where I'm ordering BP51s), and was told that 33.6 or maybe 33.7 should make it with Rock Warriors (50mm offset)...but once you go above that, you're probably looking at further mods.

HOWEVER... rather than taking my "hearsay" (second-hand), NOOB word for it...

If you are buying BP51s from Slee, talk to them.

Do you daily drive yours with the KM2's? I do about a 30 mile highway commute everyday and just wondering if I could get away with it with out being annoying. Also I really like your fuel rims just wondering how they would look on a white LC. Whats your opinion?

This is exactly what I have heard too. I will probably keep it conservative so I don't sacrifice drivability of the car until it becomes something I don't daily drive. I just wrap my head around $400 a rim for those dam TRD rims. They are real nice but I decided to take that money and put it in a ARB bumper with some lights :)

I daily drive my LC about 60 miles round trip on the highway, radio sounds great, I don't hear a thing:)

I think the Fuel rims would look great on a white rig! The KM2's are a bit louder than all terrains but honestly not bad at all... handling and traction suffers just a bit on road, but not much...

Thats good to know. I may look in to them. I am planning a trip to colorado in January to go skiing with the family so would you recommend the KM2's in the snow?

haven't tried them out in the snow or ice yet but my guess is all terrains would be way better!

Before you spend $2000 on Rock Warriors... Keep an eye out on Craigslist. Just two weeks ago, a guy was selling 4 nearly PERFECT Rock Warriors for $550 (!!). If I hadn't just spent $800 on a set, I'd have grabbed them. Wish I had grabbed them anyway now!!!

But... Point is...with a bit of patience, these do come up for sale fairly frequently.

I just bought a single additional Rock Warrior on Craigslist for a measly $100, and it's in even better shape than the four I bought for $200 each!

Others here may have a different experience than me...but I can tell you that from my personal frozen trips...while muds will do fine in slushy or thick snow, they can be really scary on icy roads. KOs will do WAY better on ICY roads than most muds because of siping. Really...its the ice that's dangerous...

For snow mixed with highway ice? KOs (or KO2s) do pretty darn well.

Here's me 100 sloggin through a serious BLIZZARD at -16 F...

Never even a HINT of wishing for chains when on roads. The only time I might want muds would be in slushy stuff, or where you have to grab an edge of concrete, etc. Others here might have a different view.

This is why I went ahead and got KO2s instead of more aggressive Trail Grapplers. While I'd love Trail Grapplers in muddier stuff, I'm more likely to be in snow than mud...

Anyway... Just thinkin... ;)

If I could find some for that price I would be all over them. I will keep my eyes peeled for sure.

thanks!!

Here's a GREAT website for finding out the ACTUAL size (height/width) of just about ANY tire you'd be interested in.

DO **NOT** put your vehicle type in. If you do, it will show you only factory recommended, blah blah blah. Just hit the brand, tire type, and then look at sizes. It even includes revolutions per mile for each tire in each size. Also weight...height, width and more.

For example...

After clicking "BFGoodrich" and then KO2...you get this page...with all the info you could ask for regarding TRUE size of each tire:
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Tires

You can get the same detailed info by simply clicking on various other brands in the left column...then tire model, etc.
