As you can see, my suspension is the opposite of awesome, but since my front two tires are bald and in need of replacement, I'm going to tackle this first.

There looks like all kinds of room in the wheel wells at the moment to accommodate a bigger tire, and since I'm not planning on doing any hardcore wheeling to stuff the wheel wells, how big can I go in the interim until I raise the body up with a new set of springs/shackles?

I've seen this thread before, and there is some discrepancy as to what works best on stock suspension, and no mention of stock wheels size, spacing, etc.

Guess I'll just throw something under there and drive it for a while :)

i would say 31's

i don't wheel in my 60 because its more of a family grocery getter. i just put 33x9.50's on last month & have had no issues. truck looks much better, rides softer & gets a little better mpg. all on stock suspension with stock 15x7 wheels. i had 31x10.50s before & those were ok too.

I used to roll stock suspension with 32x10.5 swampers...lets see if I can make a picture appear

Im running 31x10.50x15. Havent experienced any rubbing to speak of. I called TLC 4x4 and asked one of their mechanics and he recommended 31x10.50x15 for stock suspension.

i havent even been a part of this forum for that long, and even ive seen this a milllion times

but since its here again ill say what i always say...

i ran 33x12.5 baja claws on stock suspension and stock rims... they rubbed a lil at full stuff on the inner rear fenderwells, but only at full twist

yes it was geared a lil high for that, yes i still run 33s (but with an ome and wider rims now) and no i havent regeared

I've read quite a few have put 33" on stock and I'll probly do the same when i get the dough up for them.

Shots on stock suspension...

The one in front has the stock suspension (until next weekend) with 32x10.8x16. On Allied Custom Steel rims.

The one in back is stock with 31x10.5x15....

Update

I bit the bullet and visited Discount Tire in Northgate tonight and picked up a set of 4 32" x 11.5" Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires to throw under my saggy old suspension. I'm incredibly stoked about the way they look and will post pictures when I can get a daylight shot.

Initial thoughts riding home:

I'm riding higher, experiencing no rubbing on tight turns (Although my rig was empty), and with the tires siped by machine experienced no lack of control on wet pavement. The most interesting thing is that my ride is smoother and less bumpy; I figured the jarring, axle-bolted-to-frame feeling over potholes was 100% suspension related, is it possible it could have been dead bald tire related? Also, riding on the highway was just as noisy as it ever was in my 62. :D

Also, in reading about this tire on Mud, it seems like the hardcore guys dislike this tire because it doesn't clean off its own mud like TSRs or Bajas, but that for people like me who DD and have to drive for an hour or two just to GET to a trail, this is a good all-around tire for on road and off.

Also, there were many cold threads on mud about a strike at goodyea and this tire not being available at some point, and also that the military buys up a lot of this tire from Goodyear, limiting its availability on the market.

Seriously though, they look hot.

On a side note, I fixed the light bulbs in those two side parking lights on the front and back driver side tonight (figured that with a new pair of shoes this lady should look her best).

Took a couple pics of the new 32" tires this morning when the light was decent. Submitted for the critical eyes of Mud...

Much better than below! Now I have my eyes on some add-a-leafs I think, to baby-step my way towards getting the ride height up...
