A month later, I had time to swap the front axle. And give Maui a good pressure wash.

When I pulled the calipers off Maui's axle, I found some scary things.

The PO had used two 1/4" spacers to get enough back spacing on the wheels to clear the calipers. This resulted in 3 lugs being broken on one side and 2 on the other. Note how few threads are available to hold the lug nut.

A few wraps of electrical tape will certainly fix any high pressure leaks.

Hard to believe the PO had any braking at all.

My old calipers were the same way. Blame it on a NE trait.
FYI, I borrowed a couple 12 ton jack stands so I might call tmrw unless I feel good enough about my jack positioning from your helpful photos. I appreciate you letting the line be open.

Hi, Thank God we don't have to deal with rust like that down here . Good save on the cruiser , I've also had to replace hard transmission lines , brake and fuel hard lines on a cruiser I bought out of Saint Louis . I never bought one from the rust belt again . Good luck . Mike

I think it is how the PO takes care of the vehicle. I am the fourth owner of mine. First 3 took great care of it, including oiling the chassis which saved it.

Above is 100% lack of caring about what they drove.

Wow - great work you're doing. and you have great patience to deal with the New England climate evils. The photos and story are fun to follow.
