Well... the questions aren't really about 55 parts but... going on a 55 rather.

Brake master -
I have the original OEM standard brake master that came on my '69. It appears to be in good shape… no weeping or oozing. And it is now responsible for stopping a MUCH heavier pig with 37s. The guy I bought it from included a used booster and a new master that bolts up to it. Not sure what they came off though.

And on to my first question:
I turned the booster up-side-down and oil came out all over. A fairly good amount. Is that normal? Should oil actually be in there?

Clutch master -
I think the '69 also has the original clutch master. It appears to be in good shape… no weeping or oozing. But, I have to almost put the pedal to the floor to get it to engage.

This is more a question/statement - It feels as though it is on its way out or might not be "heavy" enough for the existing clutch setup. It wants to disengage really early when letting the pedal out. I would like it to function exactly the opposite – have it disengage at the end of letting the pedal out.

Do you think replacing it will help? Ideas on a replacement that may use the existing bolts/mounting setup? Would a new '69 OEM replacement fix the issue (time to call c-dan if me want OEM)

Any and all help is appreciated!

have you bled the clutch system? i would try that first, then adjust the clutch so it engages at a different point in the pedal arc. Where in san jose are you? i am in gilroy.

I havent bled it... but then again... I didnt install it. I didnt think about trying that. Will try that tonight. How would you adjust the clutch?

I am in South San Jose very close to Camden and 85

does your 69 have a booster now? my late 69 doesn't but my early 70 does.
mounting the booster might take a bit of fabbing and drilling

It does not have a booster  but stops suprisingly well. The harder I push the faster it stop! Having a booster would make stoping MUCH less of an event and driving the dam thing much more relaxing. Shifting would be easier if I could fix the clutch (issue posted above).

Is the booster to have oil in it?

If my measurements are correct, it should only take a some drilling and grinding (plan to do a little before and after for the mud). I am not sure about the fab and wont know until I get there but, feel it will be okay.

The clutch is adjusted at the slave cylinder by adjusting the length of the rod between the slave and the clutch fork.
In your case you want to make the rod longer.

Thanks for the info!

You shouldn't have oil in your booster. Brake fluid sounds more likely, and you shouldn't have that. If you can get a hand held vacuum pump, you can see if it will hold vacuum. For the brakes, just put anything Toyota there that fits. The booster and MC bolt patterns remained the same for 28 years or so.

Do you have a single circuit (1 brake line coming from the MC)? If so, you'll have to add more hard lines.
