Well... the questions aren't really about 55 parts but... going on a 55 rather.
Brake master -
I have the original OEM standard brake master that came on my '69. It appears to be in good shape… no weeping or oozing. And it is now responsible for stopping a MUCH heavier pig with 37s. The guy I bought it from included a used booster and a new master that bolts up to it. Not sure what they came off though.
And on to my first question:
I turned the booster up-side-down and oil came out all over. A fairly good amount. Is that normal? Should oil actually be in there?
Clutch master -
I think the '69 also has the original clutch master. It appears to be in good shape… no weeping or oozing. But, I have to almost put the pedal to the floor to get it to engage.
This is more a question/statement - It feels as though it is on its way out or might not be "heavy" enough for the existing clutch setup. It wants to disengage really early when letting the pedal out. I would like it to function exactly the opposite – have it disengage at the end of letting the pedal out.
Do you think replacing it will help? Ideas on a replacement that may use the existing bolts/mounting setup? Would a new '69 OEM replacement fix the issue (time to call c-dan if me want OEM)
Any and all help is appreciated!
