I live in Wyoming, lived here 36 yrs.
Put a new master cylinder on my 69 fj-40, bleeding the brakes and notice after pumping the pedal the master cylinder is bubbling?? I bled the master after installing it on the firewall, used a line to push the fluid back into the resevoir, then hooked up brake line to start bleeding and it bubbles up into the resevoir, what is the problem????

thanks bosscat800

You should be okay.

Keep bleeding and you'll be fine, purged air coming into the reservoir is what you should be seeing when bleeding the m.c.

If you have the attention span this is a great little article.

Edit:

If you still see air after the brake line is attached you need to bleed your lines more. Bubbles appearing in the reservoir would have a been a good sign if you were just bleeding the m.c.

If you didn't bench bleed the master it will take a while to get all the air out. check all of your connections to insure you have no leakage/air leaks and bleed the s*** out of it, be carefull not to empty the master and suck air in otherwise you start all over again. Good Luck Ken

I bled the master again, no air in master. I then bled all wheel cylinders and continue to have air bublling into the master??? It has brakes just cannot figure why air bubbling into master when you push the brake pedal.

no air in the lines??? then I would think it's ok maybe, or the master could be defective. I dunno.

Residual air in the lines, keep pumping until no more air bubbles out.
