I have been thinking about driving around in the Valle de Guadalupe / Rosarita / Ensenada area of Baja California, Mexico. From past experience, the cell service is so poor that Google Maps and the like are pretty useless. Has anyone had any luck with a GPS/Garmin type product? Or, is there a good old fashioned paper map that I can buy somewhere?

Thanks!

Paul

Baja Almanac is the ultimate!

I second the Baja Almanac. They may be hard to find stateside now and if you do, some people ask for $100-200 (CRAZY!). Not sure if they're back in print or not. No crazy pricing in Baja though for the stores I've seen them in, but that's if you can find a store that carries it.

I waited on the e-mail list for at least two years to get my Baja Almanac book. Just recently my boss showed me his folding map style Baja Almanac Norte. Bet he got it at a store down in Baja. I will be keeping my eyes open for these from now on.

Hola, I live in Baja and two week's ago I bought tha Baja Almanac.... you can find I think in San Diego or In San Jose Cabo.
There aren't a lot of copy but if you want I can check for you...
I think that for to travel in Baja you must have it....

For Garmin I have Mexico Atlas Bici Maps and works good and it' more accurate than garmin NT North America.

Same issue with "backcountry adventures Utah". I have been looking for a copy for some time but the prices have skyrocketed.
