A few members of the LCCSA got together to map a route in the Western Cape of South Africa The was all our first time at Buffelspoort and was certainly one of the bigger 4x4 events that I have experienced.
We mapped Buffelspoort under the very capable hands of Hannes that shared his knowledge of the area and its history. Day one was mapping the 4x2 routes and a very interesting drive up a very narrow rocky dry riverbed. Day two was the mountain, including one of the more extreme downhills and uphill drives (all locker terrain) and then a track that no more than 10 vehicles has driven over the past 2 years and that has not seen any repairs (yet) after the last flooding. Day 3 was the Poort, basically following the flood route through the port that the Laingsburg floods followed. Water was rather deep at places and at some stages reached the window washers (over the bonnet)
