I'm hoping someone who has a 1FZ - compatible manual transmission sitting around can help me get a measurement. The 1FZ bellhousing should be in place when this measurement is taken.

I'm looking for the distance that the input shaft protrudes past the face of the bellhousing. Here's a mockup of how you can accurately measure this for me:

Use a straightedge (level or non-flexing ruler) and press it against the face of the bellhousing. Then, measure from the back edge (the side flush with the housing face) of the straightedge to the tip of the input shaft. Also, if you could tell me the length of the bearing-seating portion of the input shaft (the smaller diameter part), that would also be helpful.

Thanks!

What is your goal with this? Are you planning an adapter for US trannys or non-US trannys?

I'd love to see a kit to an nv4500, or maybe even a 5600 6 speed, that way I could run a 4 speed atlas :-) maybe make it a kit with the clutch pedal bracket and plumbing as well??

just that measure do you need I have a complete manual tranny siting out my yard ! I will take that measure for you!

For now that's all I need... once I've got that I can see which transmission makes the most sense and start sourcing parts.

Yeah 5600 is nice but I'm thinking overall cost... I think you can get an NV4500 to Atlas adapter from AA.

I'll see what works for the pedal bucket... I was planning on just sourcing from SOR (or another dismantler) an 80 series pedal bucket.

I would probably spend R&D money on a good automatic.

just my opinion.

I really have no issue with the A343F... it has been nothing but reliable for me. I do understand the merit of an auto in many offroad situations, but we're never going to get around the fact that some people just prefer to row their own :) To be honest, I'm one of those myself, but all of my cars are autos, so I'm not terribly biased :meh:

well that distance is 0 !! I took a picture

Thanks much! That greatly simplifies my the design portion of this! I only have to worry about making whatever trans input shaft flush with the mating face.

Could you do me one other quick favor when you have a moment? Attached is the other measurement I was hoping you could grab for me:
