That looks like a nice adapter! Assuming it uses the stock Toyota starter and flywheel? How thick is it? Depending on where it puts the engine relative to the firewall you may need to run a lower clearance coolant flange on the rear of the cylinder head (unless your engine is an automatic transmission version).
Yep. Stock starter and flywheel, which is great. Hmmm. You’ve given me a lot to think about already. I don’t have a tape to hand, but the spacer appears to be a little less than an inch thick.

I don’t have the engine yet. Was planning to track down one from a manual vw. I was just reading your thread about clearance issues. You sorted it out elegantly.

The manual transmission version of the ALH (I'm assuming thats the engine you're going for?) uses an aluminum coolant flange with three glow plugs in it, a very long setup which will either need a block off plate to remove the glow plugs or swap the whole thing for the plastic flange from an automatic engine. Unfortunately the plastic ones have a tendency to leak around the coolant temp sensor.

The manual engines come with a 10mm injection pump and 0.184mm injectors, the autos use an 11mm pump and 0.176mm injectors if memory serves. You'll want to upgrade the injectors regardless, and depending on power requirements you'll want an 11mm pump. I cannot recommend getting a tune from one of the major players at this point, my custom tune is from a guy over at tdiclub, he goes by burpod on the forum and does an excellent job.

ALH for sure. I’ve started hunting, but will need to go to wreck yards up in Cincy to find one locally. A buddy of mine who owns a shop is going to help out re:tracking down the engine too. He’s got access to databases that makes that sort of thing much easier.

I’m feeling pretty set on swapping a manual engine into the Pig. Just saw the bock off plate that you made… and I’m sure I’ll be going back to your thread a bunch.

Absolutely planning to upgrade the pump to 11mm before it goes into the Pig.

I’m sure that I’ll be hitting you up when I hit the wall… lol

Thank you so much for all
Of the advice. I’m grateful.

Absolutely! Feel free to give me a shout any time.

Thank you, brother. Much appreciated. It’s likely going to be a month or so until I find the right ALH. In the meantime, I need to get started on getting the engine bay in the Pig cleaned out. I’ll definitely be in touch.
