There are three ways you can do this.
Buy a set of front hubs, with the stub axles tubes, with the double lock nuts and tab locking washer, and the aisin freewheel hubs, from a early 70 series pre 1990.
or follow the thread as above.
If you were in New Zealand then I could convert your electric hubs to manual, but that is another story

Hi there, I did this about 6 months ago the contacts were chewed out but the motors still worked. I have heard of the conversion where you use an allen or hex key to lock the converted electric hubs. Good Idea. But I just used the hubs off an old HJ60 I have standing around. Perfect fit. The brake discs are the same aswell. The LJ axles are similar to the ones out of a Hilux and not the bigger cruisers although most parts are interchangeable.

We have just take delivery of our second batch or hub adapters. This new batch offers a slightly better fit than our previous versions.

Our adapters offer a relatively easy conversion to manual hubs that is far less time and parts intensive than converting all the other parts that are needed.

With Aisin hubs, this is a very straightforward conversion. If you're going to use Warn hubs, which we can supply, there's some modifying that needs to be done.

We'll be posting installation procedures soon these hub adapters.

hi please let me know the quote of the following
Manual Hub Adapters:

* These adapters are invaluable when you want to remove the temperamental Electric Locking Hubs from your Land Cruiser Prado (LJ78) or HZJ73 series.

i need to ask why you are changing out the hubs, are they not working any longer?

if it is because they have failed, why did they fail?

if it is because you heard the rumor that the elec hubs are weaker, BS. the internals are just as strong. they are mounted using MORE bolts for better strength.

40/60/70 knuckle out swap IF easily located. if these parts were not available then i would go with Johns plate with warn hubs. i have always like the warn setup.

i need to take a closer look at my red PZJ70 since it had the manual lock out hubs when it came in from Japan (it was a swap in unit)

@ wayne : hi , i wanted to change as people say they are unreliable ,
opened them up carbon brushes are all worn out , can anyone send me a link where they are avalaible.
will repair and then use and see .

@John ; Iam in India , got your email but could not contact you .please reply me via email.

you can not buy just the brushes...
but the last set of 12V elec locking hubs i paid (i think) $250 per side. this is a complete hub. good deal in my books.
<of course i ended up not needing them so they are sitting here somewhere>

Here is a link to a Japanese chap who made his own brushes.
I found it many years ago...
