I just got my manifolds off to replace the gasket. The exhaust manifold has two "joints" in it, one after the first cylinder and one before the last cylinder. The joint after the first cylinder rotates. Is that normal?

pic?
???

The exhaust manifold ports for the #1 and #6 cylinders are both removable. There are wave spring/o-rings that can be replaced. So both ends should move (rotate).

Ok, thanks. I just had a picture all ready to post up, too.

So if I don't plan on having this engine for another 200 thousand miles and it's not leaking then I shouldn't worry about it?

Its a real good idea to have the manifold assembly machined for trueness..... you know the procedure for that???

Those two ends on the exhaust manifold are supposed to turn. It is perfectly normal and allows the manifold to seal better.

Ok, so here's a dumb question. What keeps it from leaking there?

Also, I need the heat riser insulator plate. On SOR they are 50 bucks. Is there a better place to get one of those?
