A 50-pound dog is expected to recover after being shot Thursday by his owner’s neighbor in a northwestern Forsyth subdivision.
Jonathan Hee, 51, of Green Summers Drive was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, disorderly conduct, reckless conduct and discharging a firearm from a public road by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The aggravated cruelty charge is a felony. Sheriff’s Capt. Frank Huggins said Hee was released Thursday night after posting a $3,250 bond.
According to a sheriff’s report, Hee was on a walk in the Green Summers neighborhood when Buster, a Labrador-beagle mix, ran out from his yard and approached Hee. Buster’s owner, 23-year-old Laura Hanson, chased Buster to the road and grabbed him by his harness, the report said.
Hee reportedly yelled profanities at Hanson as she approached and reportedly pulled a small-caliber handgun out of his pocket and aimed it at the dog. According to the report, as she backed away, Hanson let go of Buster and repeatedly said, "No, please don’t."
Hanson said Hee then shot Buster three times, wounding him in the neck, ear and chest. According to the report, Hee said he was defending himself from the dog.
The dog is expected to recover.

Hee's a jerk, but I don't like being patronized by the paper either. There's two sides to every story, and who could be afraid of a puppy named "Buster" (who is 10 months old, and also a lab mix, so could be pretty large). Also, "ran out and approached" is wiiiiiiidddddeeee open for interpretation. Not saying I'm taking this guy's side, because he over-reacted, I just hate being fed a contrived story, that's all. Ever notice how every pet-injury story lists every and all charges leveled, yet crimes against humans rarely, if ever, do (until they get convicted on all 8,735 counts)? I own a dog that's never outside without a leash, and I'd probably swear at a dog (and their owner) that came running at me too. But I don't walk my neighborhood packin' heat... So, overall, . Douchebag's gonna get what he deserves, but I hope sweet young thang Mrs. Hanson gets a ticket for letting her dog run wild, unless you don't have leash laws over there...
I know what you mean. I'm terrified of beagle lab mixes. Ferocious as hell.

You can't have it both ways. Dogs either need to be on leashes or they don't. There can't be a provision for not having a leash because it's "only a beagle lab mix".

I doubt there's a leash law involved in this area outside of a city limit.
I saw this on the evening news. The dog is but a puppy--with 3 additional holes.

it was a puppy. your dog doesnt have to be leashed in the yard. it was a fxxxing puppy it ran out to say hi to people. so the guy shot the big bad puppy that almost licked him and he did it after it was leashed
