ahh thanks for the info. so the oil flows from the trans to the t-case??? i thought it was the other way. i thought the t-case pushes oil to the trans and the hose kit was designed to allow excess flow back to the t-case and allow a depressurization to occur between the two units therefor allowing oil to be maintained in both at acceptable levels.

thanks
Dan

Yeah, the MAF kit is meant to correct the problem when the fluid moves from the transfer into the transmission. This happens because the transfer gear acts like a pump and pushes the fluid into the transmission.

If your leak is going the other way (transmission into transfer) I'm not sure the kit will do much for you, unless you overfill the transfer case. The transmission is higher than the transfer case and you would have to get the transfer case pretty full to have the fluid flow from transfer up into the transmission. I'm not sure whether overfilling the transfer case is bad or what. There is at least one person on the board who removed the seal between the transmission and transfer case and runs the transfer case over filled. Do a search and you might find the thread that mentions it.

thats what i thought. mine is as discussed low t-case and overfilled tranny. not sure what is going on with D'animals.

thanks

:meh: I have some weird stuff go on with my rigs.

your not alone. i have discovered these trucks are full of quirks. i just bought a 78 fj40 with the ambualnce doors to fix up and i am sure it will have its share like my 60 has

A lot of the direction of flow depends on which one will build up pressure. If your breather is plugged on either tranny or tcase, that is the one that will build press..
