Malibu Radiator Electric FAN Swap

I’m looking into electric fans to swap out my existing fan clutch. Yes I’m pretty aware around the benefits of both (Fan Clutch better, swap the CST fluid, Need a high output alternator, etc…) and with all that said I’m looking into doing a swap.
One of the fans I came across was the 2008-2012 Chevy Malibu V6 FAN. Its overall size was a pretty close fit 27.25 Wide x 15.25 Tall, and the mount points looked good. I’ve heard that TYC products can be a bit bad but ignoring my own better judgment I ordered a TYC 621790 Cost ~$95 shipped. The FAN was received with damage due to the crappy internal packaging by the manufacture. Autoplicity had nothing to do with this, in fact they gave me a no hassle full refund. While I had the part here in my shop I decided to take a few pics of it and I chatted with a few folks on the Malibu owners club. They gave me a handy wiring diagram. From the diagram I found out Fan 1 needs 30 AMPs and Fan 2 -15 AMPS but they could not tell me the total CFM of the fans. Currently I’m guessing them at about FAN 1 2500-3000 and FAN 2 1000-1500 but I have a CFM meter on order and will gauge them soon. According to the wiring diagram the fans run in series for low speed and then independently for high speed. For now here are some pics and I’ll post up more information later.

Sweet looking setup. Looks like the passanger side fan uses the same motor as the Taurus fan. Look into the Volvo dual fan relay for running your fans. They are heavy duty and are build to handle the load of the fans.

I contacted Dorman products around this fan. They let me know the following:

Left Fan - CFM 1200 / Operating AMPS 6.8
Right Fan - CFM 1600 / Operating AMPS 13.9

I thought about running both larger fan motors too, I'll need to check the fit and will post up what I find.

Dorman let me know the motors are not sealed, so I'm wondering if this would be an issues when going through water dust dirt etc. Any one have any experience in these matters? To Seal or Not to Seal, that is the question?

I used 2 mishimoto fans 14",10" with the stock clutch fan. The one in front off tranny cooler had to cut some grill .

I got a good look at the Malibu FAN setup and it would not be possible to swap the slower fan for a faster one. The mold on the shroud it made specifically for the fan it is intended for.

Thinking about this a bit more I believe I am going to go with a custom shroud with SPAL fans... but we'll see...

Any one have an opinion if the motors should be sealed?

The Ford Taurus / Lincoln Mark Viii fan (93-98) is supposed to flow 4300 CFM at 33 amps. I use this fan on my RX7 as do many other V8 RX7 folks with good results.
