Guys,

Looking at 2010 LCs and on the "build your own" it says Gray paint is not available with the beige interior. Is this the caseand I'll have to settle for gray/gray or is the lack of choice simply because MY10 is drawing to a close? It's not a deal breaker to get beige (I must have gray ext), though it is preferred.

The reason I think it may be "run out" options is colors like red and green are also unavailable per the website.

Would really appreciate some replies and I plan to have a few more questions for the experts on this site when my research on certain aspects of the car proves unsuccessful.

Planning to buy a new LC sometime between late summer and the fall.

The oak interior was never available with grey exterior in the US. I think Toyota's side is messed up and the colors can be had. The end of the model year doesn't mean that certain options aren't available. Oh and it isn't the end of the model year. That changes around October(ish).

The "Build Your Own" feature on the website takes into consideration your location and will only show options that are within a certain geographical area. It varies based on inventory that is currently available at dealers or the port. I just checked as well and the only colors they are showing available currently are white, silver, gray, and black in my area. If you are in Portland Maine, you also have Sonora Gold as an option. Plug in a different zip code and you'll get different colors, options, and prices.

Interior color options are based on exterior color. According to the 2010 brochure, gray is available with a beige interior. The only limitations were that Classic Silver only came with grey and Sonora Gold only came with beige. All other exterior colors had the option of either grey or beige.

If you really want the Grey with beige, you'll probably need to go into a dealer and hope they are willing to do a nationwide search to see if any dealers have that combination (I suspect it's pretty rare). Or simply order it and have it built for you. This of course is assuming they actually did build Grey with beige - as you know, the brochures have the disclaimer that options and specs can change.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Some good information and encouraging that the brochure lists it as available. I've bought a Toyota before, so I know a guy who should do a search for me as he knows I'll likely be buying it if he can find the exact spec.

If this fails I may order it but the temptation to get a new one off the lot for an even bigger saving is tempting, even if it were gray/gray.

Any more input is welcome and thanks again for the responses thus far.

Personally, I think the Grey/beige would look odd - I really like my Grey/grey. Again, just a personal preference.

When it comes to shopping don't overlook ebay. I've noticed that they have a "build your own" as well and the current price that a local dealer (using zip code 99201) is $67,239 w/ UP (MSRP: $73,890). I don't think they have any in stock so I assume this is the price for ordering one. Based on recent purchase threads, it looks like $6600 isn't that bad of a discount currently. You could see if there is a local dealer that has similar pricing. Here is another thread where I posted a screen shot of similar pricing a few months back.

Anyway, good luck and let us know what you end up with!

Thank you again for another helpful post. You may be right about the combo, I do like the gray interior too and the only "must have" is the gray paint and UP so I'll see what's about as I'd prefer not to order but neither am I averse to doing so.

I'll also make sure to check back in with updates, though I won't be making the purchase until August/September as I have a trip to Europe planned. However, when my mind's made up on a vehicle it's a done deal.

The LC will be just perfect as I love the low-profile nature of the Toyota badge, the fact it comes with 18s rather than 20s allowing my camping trips to proceed sans mods and will just about last forever. I see it as the thinking mans Range Rover.

On that note, I have one last question. I see the factory warranty bumper to bumper is 36/36 and powertrain is 60/60. What are the options for extending this through Toyota? Is there a bumper to bumper 5year 100k mile option and if so what is the MSRP? If I get this at the time of purchase it will help ensure I'm as loyal to this vehicle as I hope it will be to me.

Beige interior is harder to upkeep than the gray. I like it, but only on a white car. Every other color gets gray IMO.

I hear you but my pit is beige so when he sheds it'll blend in. Sounds silly but it really is another plus for beige, for me.

If anyone feels like posting interior pics that would be great. The ones on Toyota.com suck and I'm not one for the manicured pro-shots.

Guys, quick question. What did you pay for your new LCs? With UP they're 74k, plus tax and licensing makes right on $80k. I'm willing to forgo the beige interior and take one that's been SITTING on a lot. Is $60k otd realistic? I'm pretty certain $60k before tax would be accepted if I try a few places but I'd rather pay $6k less and I think may be able to. It'll be in a few months, so the 11s will be there plus the crappy economy ain't going away anytime soon.

Inv w/ UP is $62,500 so I should be able to go way under that given the above criteria.

I've bought a lot of cars the last few years and alway managed some great deals but was wondering what the lay of the land was.

Also, is there a 7yr 100k warranty extension called Platinum? Is it official Toyota or a dealer thing? How much? Been searching the forum but can't find specifics.

I ended up going with an LX570, but when I was going around getting quotes on an LC200 a few months ago, several dealerships agreed to a price of $68900 for fully loaded 2010.

Based on recent posts here and here, I think there are few screaming deals out there. There are a couple of factors: production (or at least the imports to the States) has been reduced to meet the current economic times, few dealers have any on hand, and typically LC's have never been sold on price (unlike a typical GM SUV that are discounted to the hilt). Supply and demand appears to have stabilized so I suspect a $5-6k discount is going to be common. And keep in mind that the 2011's are going to have a slight price increase. This may bump demand for a "cheaper" 2010.

Other thing you'll probably find is that most of the remaining inventory will be "dealer demos" and have a couple thousand miles on them. I found that when I was shopping - most of the times, an unsold LC turned into a dealer managers car.

A quick search on Autotrader shows that there are 115 new LC's for sale. Compare that to 1165 Sequia's, 735 Range Rovers, 2400 Escalades, and 1800 MB GL's, you can see that Toyota hasn't flooded the market with LC inventory. (obviously there are more than 115 out there for sale but the Autotrader listings give you a pretty good idea how few there are compared to other SUV's)

thanks for input

Was that 68,900 out the door or pre-tax and licensing? 'grats on the LX

sptsn- Thanks for the detailed response. A dealership will lose a sale if the manager's been driving it. That makes it used as far as I'm concerned. Lower inventory shows the much lower interest in this vehicle than the others, that will certainly be my argument anyway.

Island,

How did you do on price, roughly speaking, on the LX570? I'm in the same situation comparing new LC vs LX and will be buying one or the other shortly. Are you happy with the LX after several months?

Actually, I just read the thread detailing your search. Any updates on how you like the LX?

The $68900 was pre-tax and licensing. I was trading a car in at the same time, so the final price would have come in at the low $70s.

For the LX we settled a little north of $75K before taxes, and that's as an '09 with 19K miles on it.
I have to say, I absolutely love the truck! It feels just as solid as the LC, which makes sense since they share most the same stuff. Originally looking for an LC, I didn't really feel like I needed the upgraded interior of the LX, but I've definitely come to appreciate it. IMO, the interior is nicer than that in my brother's GL450 and the Audi that I traded in. The sound system can sound pretty amazing too, given the proper conditions.

To be honest though, the navigation system is just terrible, definitely the worst I've seen: not only does it lock you out when you're driving, but in my experience it doesn't map out the most ideal directions. For a route that both my Audi and my brother's GL mapped out for 9 and a half hours, the three options the GL gave me had the shortest at 12 and a half hours and the "default" route was 14 hours long...

Regardless, LX or LC, both are great vehicles that I'm sure you'll be more than happy with, whichever you choose.

Do you plan on ever modding it for offroad use? If so, forget the LX. It will be a very long time (if ever) when companies such as ARB make products for the LX. The current aftermarket bumpers will not work on an LX (at least in their bolt-on fasion. In the automotive customization world, anything is possible with enough money, but this would be quite costly.

If you never plan on on modifying it, I'd say to spring for the LX if you can afford it. It honestly is a much nicer vehicle than the LC with it's AHC suspension with electronic dampening controls. Just never wheel it...
