The bottom line is, either way, both are extremely badass and 15-25 years later are still better built than most vehicles on the road!

If we're being honest, at some point along the way we all went through some level of analysis paralysis on the LC vs LX decision. Down the road, if you've pulled your adjustable ride height, you find yourself wishing you had gone LC. If you've retrofitted your headlights on your LC, you find yourself wishing you had gone LX. To name a couple scenarios.

I think this is humorous, especially since there is a guy locally who is splitting the gap creatively, I think you have another future customer here @devlooper :

New here, i'll be picking up a 2004 LX470 with 168k miles today and I searched for both LC and LX and at the end of the day there seems to be more of a supply of LX's vs LC especially down here in socal. Good LC's and LX's go up for sale and then they're gone within the same day. I'll take any so long as it's been kept up and has good service history

That's how I ended up with an LX. Wanted just a straight up Land Cruiser, but in my market area....LX's were much more plentiful.

All were in better shape, had fewer miles, more service history and LESS money than the LC's, so I finally gave in and bought a nice one owner.

Yeah I agree with this....never understood the craze about Tacomas. Been in several and left a lot to be desired.

The Tacoma popularity thing started before it was named a Tacoma. They have a cult following like Cruisers.

I would t say I’m a Taco cultist but it’s been the most dependable vehicle I’ve ever owned. Mine is an 06’ with 300k miles. I bought it new 15 years ago and it has broken down far less than my LX with fewer miles. Tires, brake pads, battery, and one new alternator... that’s literally all that’s ever been replaced in it. Love driving my LX but it definitely spends more time with the hood propped open.

Similar to my story. I wanted a 3rd gen 4Runner. The only ones I could find had rust or were beat up and priced way higher than an LC or LX. After a while, I settled for an LX with the plan to simplify it and set it up for off-road use. Down in the ArkLaTex, LXs are generally more plentiful and most started life being serviced by Sewell for North Dallas soccer moms.
