I have a nice m101A2 that's been converted to a 7-pin. It's really great except raising and lowering it is a real pain as I have to pull the pin, kick the leg back all while holding/lifting the pointless. Normally I have a helper though.

So I am sure others have swapped in a tongue jack that cranks like conventional trailers. Any suggestions on this? If you have pics that would be great.

That jack, that the Military uses, brings high dollars. In the area of $250, you would be better served to buy a civilian jack.

I've got one that has a bad jack, also. Might as well buy a whole trailer for that kind of money.

Look on Steel Solders, in the classifields, sometimes they show up.

I am not clear what you're saying. Is the jack I currently have 250 or is there a military jack that does this but it costs 250?

I'm sorry, The M101A3, a newer version of the A2, has a crank up jack instead of your style. I believe it will bolt right to your mounting holes.

They are very expensive though. I've been quoted $250.

Just get a crank up jack from a trailer store or Harbor Freight.
Weld on the mounting ring and you are good to go.
It is much easier than the original folding landing leg.
This is how I did mine.

Yea, I registered at steelsoldiers and see the crank jack they are referring to. seems to be rare and command $250 as you said.

Thanks for the pics. I will probably go that way, I dont care if it's military or not, just functional as I am tired of manually lifting it. I do have the bows/top so its pretty cool.

I like the idea a lot, but that would require having a battery wired up, which I dont want on this. Thanks though Phil.

Make sure you get a jack that will handle the height of the tongue. A lot of them are too short.

Old thread but on my M101A1 I purchased a cheap landing leg with wheel from HarborFreight. It clamps on and didn't require any mod to the trailer. I only use it for hooking and unhooking the trailer plus rooling it around on hard surfaces. The stock landing leg isn't high enough for the tow vehicle and to hard with my bad back to lift and roll the trailer to the pintle hook on dirt and cinders. I crank the landing leg to the correct height then back right to lunette. While the trailer is parked I use the stock landing leg to keep the weight off the cheap landing leg.
