Did some searching and didn't find something specific to the wood dash cracking on the LX570.

I have a 2010 with bubinga wood trim and have some cracks/breaks in the wood panel above the passenger air bag. They were there when I purchased the vehicle. Does anyone else with an 09-13 LX have this issue? if so, have you repaired it or replaced? The part is pretty expensive for what it is. I have thought about removing the panel for repairs, but honestly doubt that would produce any good results.

Picture for reference.

I had cracks above my seat memory buttons and chose to remove that side and the passenger side and have them recovered by an auto interior shop with as close of a match to the leather as we could find. I’m very happy with the results.

I have a crack (self inflicted - pushed with a finger nail to straighten a peeling part before glue application that ended up cracking)
and just like you found out that in best case it is $400.00 :crybaby:

I don't think outside of wrapping it anything else is going to be the answer

I have multiple cracks or pulling away around the ash tray area and around the seat memory. I used thin 3m tape to repair it but I think gluing it back down would have been better.

I just bought one of these. I'm going to try to wrap my wood grain on the rear console wood piece with it.

I hadn’t thought ab covering with leather. Can you post some pictures of the finished product?

I just found it. Looks great. Definitely a good option. At this point I’m thinking leather cover or line x. Either way I believe the wood will have to be removed.

Hi Guys, After trying several of the recommended repair strategies I bit the bullet and replaced my cracked panel with the proper OEM part, 5547660060 Genuine Toyota GARNISH, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL. I found this item on Ebay in Dubai. Shipping was prompt and the item was wrapped and packaged in an OEM Toyota box. It is an exact match for my 2011 LX 570. I have attached images of the glued and re-cleared old panel as well as the new one. The reflections are from the light bouncing off the sunscreen. The panel I received is perfect. I also became an expert at removing this panel without breaking it. Start by removing the tan end cap on the end of the dash. Accessible once the door is opened. Then remove the gray passenger vent assembly on the opposite end. Once these two panels have been removed you can easily grab the dash panel by hand from the door side of the panel and start gradually pulling it away from the dash. The passenger vent control on the right side comes out from the backside of the panel once removed. If careful you can do all of this without breaking any of the clips. I had mine out several times and didn't break anything. Use the thin plastic panel removal tools that are available from a variety of auto parts sources including Harbor Freight. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yup that is what I did as well - still can't believe that this piece of plastic costs so much!!

I think it's real wood, unlike the fake ones they use in the LCs

I wish it was wood... would have justified the price, but it is not - just a fancy looking piece of plastic...

Since I still have my old piece, I took a few pics for you to see:

Yeah the structure is plastic but I believe there is a very thin strip of veneer on it covered by a lacquer or clear coat. That's the part that cracks every time and is the reason for the high price.

Yes the lacquer deforms from heat / sun exposure and starts cracking.

You might be right about the thin veneer covered by the coat of lacquer in there - one thing is for sure it is not very durable for what it is and it's too bad that It can't be replaced by some sort of aluminum piece or simply black piece of plastic worth max $50.00

Oh well moving on !

I think the dash, console, and all the matching door pieces were made from the same piece of wood.

If you're going to toss that old piece of trim I'd be happy to take it off your hands!
