Still having that nasty jolt... hope that above drive shafts and re-torquing a bolt resolve our issue.
I can't seem to find that thread as well.
Any link would be greatly appreciated.

this is the post which mentions the clunk be gone with driveshaft retorque-

Take a look at the below thread.
The code TSB-0209-17 Transmission Software Update is something that my dealer was familiar with and he performed the update with success. Others who have mentioned this same update were not as successful. Oddly, it seems to be dealer specific.

Not relevant on a 2014.

OP - what do you mean by “shock”? Every 100 and 200 series transmission I have ever driven has a clunky shift from 1-2 under low throttle conditions. I’m talking 3 200s and 2 100s with Aisin automatic transmissions and a combined 700k.

Full throttle shifts are crisp on the 6 speed in my 14LX. You can definitely feel them. It shifts smoothest in the middle of the RPM range.

Agreed. I find it most prevalent in traffic conditions (slowly creeping up). As a work around I will usually click the 2nd start button in traffic so I won't go into 1st. I know this shouldn't be necessary, but it is less annoying.

EXACTLY. It manifests itself very well in traffic. Feels like it lurches/lunches into gear. It’s normal behavior.

It's more of sudden jolt or jerk when shifting from 1-2.
Yes, mostly under city driving and I recently changed my transmission fluid but no difference.
I drove my friend's 100 series but it wasn't that bad compare to mine.
Still trying to figure out... any relation with torque converter going bad or worn out perhaps?

so this is normal. Even I have it exactly in the conditions you mentioned. It shifts better in higher RPMs (3000+)
This only happens between 1-2 and little more evident at very cold starts.

How does she feel when you get on her? Still clunky?

If torque converter was going, wouldn't it feel like you were "slipping the clutch" as you take off?

My low miles 08 with the 6 speed is buttery smooth.

I have an FJC that shudders very bad from 40-45 mph. I believe the concensus is that it is a solenoid issue in those trucks.

I had a shudder in a DC Tacoma that turned out to be a failing ujoint in the rear shaft.

These problems, unfortunately, are not uncommon in Toyotas. But they seem to live on for many years with a trans shudder.

Years ago they would say flushing a high mileage trans was a bad thing. Is that still a thing?

I just drained and filled w/ new transmission oil... no problem so far.
Really wanted to replace the entire fluid and screen but the shop said they can't do it. 🤷‍♂️
It made absolutely no difference in shifting.

Does Yoir DC Tacoma shudder at all speeds/shirts? I ask cause my LC shudders/studders when shifting from 1st to 2nd only, and when on average acceleration. All other gears and/or heavier acceleration everything is smooth.

I also get a weird clunk/loud click in the mornings when I put the car into reverse for the first time for the day and I haven’t even moved the car. Almost a metal on metal click So weird and I just hate to believe it’s a tranny in this thing.

I did and drain and full flush (15 qts) . Transmission quieter, maybe a tiny bit smoother.

I 'feel' the same.
I am waiting on my grease gun to grease the drive shafts and check the screws torque to make sure that part is not adding to the feel.

I would venture a guess that this 1st/2nd shift shudder is a solenoid issue like the A750 transmissions.

The latter issue is most likely ujoint, cv shaft, something along those lines.

Please take all of what I say as mere speculation from a backyard Toyota mechanic.

Yeah, I wish someone identify what solenoid it is which needs replacement.
I also read, it could be worn out 'bands' inside the transmission. doing frequent transmission fluid changes conditions these bands and keeps them in good shape.

One worn out, it may be damage already done at that point. I was reading about this problem as they call it 'delayed engagement', some of it may be due to the transmission design, transmission fluid aging, weak solenoids or bands wearing out.

At that point I realized, this is a forum of OCD auto maintenance folks, we are very particular on every small thing we notice and want to fix it.

interesting my 2010 with 224k miles does this when going from neutral into drive, just jerks a bit into drive but smooth through all 6 there after, had a ppi done at a lexus dealership before picking it up and they did not note any issues with tranny.

these type of issues are not noted by mechanics as its lot more superficial.
May be a transmission specialist at tranny shop may note it.
But only a mechanic who owns these trucks can tell if its normal shift or a harder shift.

I had lexus dealership inspect my hard steering wheel at low speed (5 miles per hour). They said its absolutely normal and fine as per their inspection and testing.
I drained the power steering fluid using a 12v pump and put the pumps drain pipe to the bottom of the reservoir and damn there are black chunks of debris at bottom of the reservoir. I had to do this procedure 3 times and my steering wheel is all free and smooth after that procedure. But for the lexus mechanics, there is no issue at all. All working as designed.
