Hello all,

I'm a long-time lurker, and have enjoyed much of the traffic that gently swirls around on this forum. I'm based in Dubai, and have two great cars- a 2012 Ford Raptor and a 2009 LX570. Like my children, I love them both; like my children, they're pretty different.

The truck is my daily driver, the LX is my wife's. For Xmas, lucky girl, she's still waiting for her new Eezi-Awn K9 rack with lots of bells and whistles to be delivered. I'm also thinking of putting on some bigger tires as we use both vehicles a lot on the desert at this time of year. The LX has 220k km on the clock, and pretty much every panel has had some attention from minor scrapes to dents from enthusiastic driving. So I'll doubtless be hitting you up for ideas and guidance on things we might be able to do to spice up this fantastic car- I'd love to work out how to lift it, add a winch and maybe some aftermarket bumpers. I've read plenty of stuff on here about the difficulty in modifying anything suspension-related on the 570 so am in no hurry, but always happy to get good guidance...

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome Rory! I look forward to seeing how you build it!

Welcome Rory! What size tires are you thinking of going to? Does yours have automatic height control (AHC) based suspension? Mine does and right now I am thinking that it's going to be really rough trying to do a conventional lift unless you strip it down and then I'm not sure you will get around the perpetual warning light.

Post up some pics of what you are working with.... we always love pictures!

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was thinking some 35s would be good, with spacers of an inch or so. I think this would give me much better off-road performance (it's already fantastic in the desert but I get a lot of scraping and bashing of front and rear skirts/bumpers).

Yes, I have the AHC and had read some stuff in here (I think) about the posssibility of a small lift to accommodate bigger tires, but without messing up the AHC. To be honest, the merits of AHC are a bit lost on me- i had contemplated replacing with an OEM kit if and when I have to replace any AHC parts.

So...do you think the stock setup can accommodate 35s? Maybe I'd be messing with a perfectly good setup...

Call Sleeoffroad and talk to them about their shop truck, which is currently a 570 with 35's and no lift. Currently, no one has a solution for lifting the LX570 as the AHC is very integrated into the system. That's a major reason many stick with the Land Cruiser version. But Slee drove their 570 through Ouray with ease. Some rubbing for sure. but it can be done. If you talk to Christo Slee, he ay well try to talk you out of doing 35's...but if there is anyone with experience in what you're talking about...it would be Slee.

...still waiting for her new Eezi-Awn K9 rack ...

Rory, did you get the K9 rack installed on the LX570? If so, can you snap some pictures? Thanks! You have two great rigs there.
