I'm working on my 2000 LX470 replacing the Nakamichi head unit and keeping the factory amp. I have all the parts to build the 22-pin connector and plug into the factory wiring harness. But, the first thing I noticed is that it's really difficult to remove a pin once it's installed. So, I don't want to make any more mistakes. I chose the Alpine iLX-W650 head unit and will be using the RCA pre-outs to connect to the stock amp for the speaker output.

But the connection that I'm not sure about it the "remote" lead from the Alpine unit that Alpine indicates should be connected to the amp. I think if you are using an aftermarket amp, then this lead triggers the amp to power up. However, as I'm using the factory amp, I'm not sure if I need to connect it or not. To complicate things, I'm installing a microbypass to avoid having to connect the Alpine unit to the parking brake for the safety requirements. Above, in Nathan's post he indicated he connected pin #10 (acc +) and pin #14 (Amp +) together and I'm not sure why. My Alpine iLX-W650 has an separate leads for ACC, Amplifier "remote", Batt, and Antenna.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Good questions!
And yes, you do not want to have to redo too many pins.

Here is how I wired mine: Nakamichi Update - '99 LX 470 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/nakamichi-update-99-lx-470.1066006/#post-11738419

13 is labeled as illumination, not sure what the difference is between pin 13 and pin 4. Maybe one dims with the dash dimmer controls?

So, Bringing an old thread up from the dead... Can someone please test something for me if you used this wiring information to wire in the new radio?
Background: took a working Nakamichi out, and replaced it with a new Kenwood(actually 2-changed my mind on something and this problem persists with BOTH Kenwood headunits). When Nakamichi is in the truck, the left front speaker works fine(meaning, speaker, wiring and amp are good). Used the Metra Harness, modified it with the LX specific connector/terminals from the thread, using the above wiring, and installed. LF speaker is BARELY Audible. All others are working as they should. Triple checked the pinout I built, etc. I swapped LF and RF inputs on back of radio(RCA, and issue moved to RF speaker not working, and I ensured the wiring in the metra harness and my crimps were good(0 ohms), so this is pointing to a mistake in the FSM wiring diagram...

Can someone please set the Fad/Balance such that ONLY the left front would be working? IE, full front Fade, and Full Left balance? I am wondering if pin 6 or pin 19 are improperly labeled in the EWD, or something is just not making decent enough contact in my harness, though I jiggled the sh*t out of it troubleshooting. If the wiring diagram is wrong, this test would show similar results to my issue. If your left front works fine, then I am obviously having a problem with the harness.

(I just signed up for TIS and downloaded the wiring diagram. The above image matches what the EWD shows.)

Did you bypass the Nakamichi amp?
