I recently acquired an '05 470 and am going to pull the running boards. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a clever way to still have illumination without the running boards - I really like being able to see what I'm stepping on when getting in and out.
Thanks!

I've been thinking about adding these to utilize my stock wiring for something after the running boards were removed. You need to source your own lights for this kit but that is easy and then you can pick the color temp you like. I would have done it already but I need to get under there and test my factory wiring, the stock puddle lights didn't work on mine.

I kept the running boards from my '05 for this same reason. Just haven't made the time to chop them up and re-fit the lighting under the truck yet. I'd be interested to see what you come up with if you decide to use the OEM parts vs aftermarket.

I would love to keep (or install similar aftermarket) the LEDs with the really uniform, crisp light that's above the step on the factory boards.

Not sure if it's practical and it's totally just superficial, but those oem running boards lights are the bee's knees.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm considering that light kit @slus linked in the first reply. For now, I'll just leave them on there.

DIY for me. Did this same thing on the '06 we used to have except hacked up some aluminum brackets. Way too much work. Took easy route this time. May look cheesy up close but cheap and function is perfect.
