Yeah I wasn't happy, but at the same time I was. It was an easy fix, and I've already put north of 600 miles on her. This is exactly the reason I don't let anyone work on my stuff."One of these things just don't belong..." I'm sorry but that is funny. I would need to tear into someone.
That cap is certainly a problem but from what you are saying, it sounds like the vehicle had prior overheating problems prior to the replacement radiator. You may not be out of the woods just yet.Well I checked the service records (thank you lexus!) And the radiator was replaced like September 26th. I'm guessing the people traded it in because even after the new radiator, it still overheated.
Yeah, I still watch my OBD app like a hawk, much to the pain and amusement of my girlfriend. Luckily, the 2uz Fe coolant system is decently simple and incredibly well documented. I'll rest easier once I have the OEM heater fittings on, and the brass removed. That cap is certainly a problem but from what you are saying, it sounds like the vehicle had prior overheating problems prior to the replacement radiator. I don't really see how it was overlooked...unless they were dong it in the dark. The thing is staring you in the face, you look at it putting on the dang hoseWhoops. In all fairness. That's a stupid mistake but I can see how that could easily be overlooked when doing a bigger job.
I also work on my own for this reason. I did pull the cap and when I saw it wasn't, I guessed it must be a bad pump, not incompetence....Huh. Was that how they shipped it lol. That is why I do my own stuff, as much as I can. You should also try troubleshooting from easiest and cheapest to hard and $$$. For instance, I would have pulled the rad cap and got it up to temp to see if coolant was moving through the radiator.
Agreed. I guess they must've been in a hurry to go to lunch.I don't really see how it was overlooked...unless they were dong it in the dark. The thing is staring you in the face, you look at it putting on the dang hose
I think you're giving this guy WAY more credit for thinking than he deserves... hahaSeems like it would be more work to put that hose over a rubber cap then to take the cap off and then put the hose on. With the cap off it's a smaller diameter, plus puttin rubber over rubber would be tough.
