working on this reminded me how the 80 series engine compartment mysteriously swallows stuff one may drop in there - it may fall out the bottom or it may not.
Nothing wrong with old master cylinder aside from having a dirty reservoir but it's a good hand-me-down for the '83 pu because it got rear disc brakes
still need to bleed systems & see if good match for the pickup

I'm interested in how this all goes. I've got parts on the way for my HZJ80 for a total brake system rebuild, from the master cylinder down to the calipers.
 
Hand-me-down master cylinder reservoir from the lx450 for the '83 pickup cleaned up good with some "SuperClean" cleaner/degreaser I got from wallyworld, then rinsed w water.
Did best to keep water out of aluminum body. Followed up with compressed air.
Did not have a rebuild kit for it but not leaking. Just need it to last long enough to see if this master is good match for disc/disc on the '83🤓
