I am sick and tired of the LX450 alarm arming itself. All that came with the vehicle was one remote. I understand the top button turns the alarm on and off. And you hold the two down while the key is in the ignition does something. But does anyone have any idea how to keep it from arming itself? I am tired of going deaf at 6:30 am in the garage.

Are you unlocking it and then not opening a door for a while? If you don't open a door after using the fob to unlock it it will reset itself.

When you get out of the truck and close a door, it rearms itself in about 20 seconds. So if you pull in, shut a door, run a load of groceries into the house, come back out, open a door and BINGO.

Mudshack,

Your alarm is in the passive setting mode. See my web site for all of the RS3000 alarm manuals and how to change the programming.

If it is an RS3000 it sounds like it is in the passive mode. That can be changed. See Beo's RS3000 info hosted by Christo.

My elaborate web site moved to another provider about a month ago and it allows 200mb file sizes so I loaded the manuals to the new site. There are RS3000 and TVSS manuals. The RS3000 manuals are also on the Slee site. I have the Gulf States Toyota alarm manuals in hard copy and they will get loaded as soon as I can get around to scanning them in.

I'm a little late of this thread but, where is the RS3000 brain (ECU) located on the LX450?

Thanks.

I'm at work so I can't check. Can you access it without removing the seat?

I basically want to make the 2nd buttom on my remote do the same as the main button. The main button contact is dead. The manual says to "press and hold the ECU's PROGRAMMING SWITCH for 3 seconds".

Silence to operate? The owner's manual doesn't mention anything about silent arming. Did I miss something or do you have an add-on to the alarm.

Can you elaborate on the "hi range" feature on your alarm. That must be a custom feature or my reading skills are terrible.

If you have the RS 3000 system......then just run the drivers seat all the way forward and you will be able to reach the "black box" underneath it. You will see a small green button recessed on one side of the box.

This is the procedure to program your remote:

Turn your key to the on position.

Using a paper clip or something similarly small....press in on the green button on the box (about 3 seconds) until the red "LED" light on the dash comes on.

Press the bottom button on the remote one time.

Turn the key back to the off position.

Important: After the red "led" light on the dash comes on you must complete the other two steps (push button on remote, and turn key to off) within 5 seconds.

It is pretty easy to do from the back seat.....you can just lean forward and turn the key off.

[thanks search button!]
This is exactly why I hate this alarm with a passion! I have set off the alarm at least a half dozen times.
I hate the lower panic button too, I got so pissed i opened the remote and destroyed the second button switch. :D

I still have the second remote to change the setting. well I hope I have the RS3000 so I can change the setting, I'll check tomorrow...

I just bought a 450 and the PO didn't send me a remote. I have the little box under the seat that was described. Are the remotes sold on Ebay appropriate to buy for this little black box? And will doing the steps indicated in the previous post reset a new remote?

thanks

troy

Liverust - You probably want to source the remote from CDan. I remember in an old thread that he had pretty good pricing on those, and he'll make sure you get the correct one. There are a couple different Toyota and Lexus remotes that work, but don't assume that just any will. They need to be the same generation of alarm.
I programmed my remotes so that one button is assigned to my LX450 and the other is assigned to my Supra. Nice feature if you are a Toyota family. My wife's car has a newer gen of alarm though. It uses 3 seperate buttons for lock/unlock/trunk. Obviously not compatible with our one button setup.

I got a spare remote from the PO from Ebay - so if I follow the aforementioned it will reprogram the new remote - right?

Not trying to be a jerk, but I advise to scroll up to Beowulf's post, left click on his username, and select the option to go to his current home page. There you will find the user's manual for the RS3000 alarm system available for download in pdf format. This manual will guide you step by step on how to do everything possible with your factory alarm. I advise this so you have the info to change any other settings on your alarm without having to repost or search. Those that recently bought their vehicle may want to clear all old remote codes before programming new ones. The procedures are all in the manual.

Yes, you can program the remotes from Ebay to work as long as they are for the LX450. I bought one from there about 3 months ago and followed Beowulf's posted instructions. Everything works beautifully.
