Long time reader first time poster. Looking to get into a 200 series rig after running them over seas with good luck for work. I live in the land of no salt so this is a new world of crusty uglies for me. I am looking at an otherwise clean and OEM maintained 2009 LX570 with 150k.

This rig came out of Canada in 2018. Looks kinda crusty to me but I am not a finely tuned expert like you guys- Should I run? Will I hate life and regret this? Will my daughter learn new dirty words every time I change oil or have to crawl under this truck?

Not bad for a 2009 Canadian truck that lived up there 9 winters. They do use a lot of salt on the roads.
It is probably like this since it arrived from Canada in 2018, given the place you're living.

That is not to say that it is great. A bit hard to tell exactly how crusty due to small size pictures. If you can upload full/larger size it would help.

I've seen brand new Toyotas look worse right on the dealership lot. That LX will run another 20 years without missing a beat.

It was/is a western Montana rig since import. I am not sure how the greater missoula area is for salt? The hallowed grounds of nonsalting states are starting to shrink. Seattle now uses tons of salt. I'll get better pictures tomorrow.

Rust is such a pain I am questioning going low ball vs just walking away from it if it is scabrous. And I say this as a former IH Scout owner...

If you plan to keep this thing for a while, and live somewhere rust won’t turn into a problem eventually on your cars, avoid it in the first place.

This would be a good rig for someone in a rust belt state, but is the recipe for unnecessary headaches for a Texas/California/Nevada owner, IMO.

Looks ok/manageable to me. Living in Nevada, you might just wait for a better one to come along unless it's a screaming deal. In Colorado, I'd give it some strong consideration.
