In the Slee video showing white LX600 w/35" and BP-51 suspension & lift, he mentioned that if you're thinking about putting larger tires or adding 2-3" lift, make sure you get electronic shocks (AVS) not AHC on the LX.

I test drove an LX 600 today that didn't have AHC (I noticed where the AHC buttons on the center console were deleted) and drove like a dream comparing to 2018 LX 570 with AHC.

Aside from not being able to put 35 tires or BP-51 on it as mentioned by Slee, could the wise people here who own LX600 share your thoughts on what am I missing (pros/cons) if I get the AHC v/s AVS? Also, what about KDSS and towing?

TIA

I believe @benc (Dissent) has managed to fit 34s or 35s with AHC on the truck they're currently building.

The pro with AHC is you get suspension system that is more capable from factory than the non AHC models. With the “sensor lift” mod, H1 gives you 3” lift over non AHC and it’s good up to 65 mph. It also compensates for load too… the other day I loaded about 400 lbs of parts in the back and the system raised its self twice.

The con is that you can’t put on an after market suspension. In theory, that means you couldnt do an all out build with all the weight and larger tires that comes with it… but that isn’t stopping dissent, and their truck doesn’t look like it’s sagging at all. I believe they have 35s on too. Plus lots of AHC 200 guys have gone all out on builds as well.

I guess it really depends on what your plans are. As far as KDSS goes, my understanding is that no US spec 300s got it. Only the overtrail 250 gets that system.

One benefit of AHC is that you can do an all out build and the AHC system compensates for the extra weight so you don't need to change the suspension like you would if you didn't have AHC.

It sounds like I would be gaining more with AHC v/s not.

What's the largest tire size you can put on an AHC truck? for example, can I mount a 33-34 AT on 18" wheel and 285 width?

Do we know how much it’ll compensate for? There was a thread in 200 section that discusses this, but I can’t find it anymore.

I’m running 33s but I think even non lifted and non ahc guys are doing that as well… tons of room. Dissent has 35s on their ahc equipped 300. That probably took removing the running boards and some wheel well trimming though. Maybe they’ll chime in.

I'm running 33.5's on my base model without AHC, fits with no rubbing. Very happy. The AHC models felt floaty when using the comfort modes, and too jittery with sport. I think the tuning on the standard suspension is just right... and easier to modify as I build it.

Nice. I keep debating swapping the TRD center caps on mine for the Lexus ones but haven't yet. Are you running any spacers with those rims? Might just be the angle but the rears look like a bit more poke than i have with those rims.

I don't know but I'd guess it's quite a bit seeing some of the builds. I've got an ironman bumper on my 570 and it handles that just finr.

Interesting. Now that I am cognizant of the AHC and Active Variable Suspension (AVS), I am noticing that most allocations coming here in the few NW Lexus dealers are all non AHC (AVS).

Tire size has nothing to do with AHC or lift.

That tire has to fit throughout the entire suspension stroke.

Also keep in mind, Slee sells suspension lifts and installs. No surprise they are focused on non AHC trucks as this wasn’t even an option with LX570.

With how much room there is I wouldn’t be surprised if 34s fit.

No spacers… just the tundra trd pro wheels with 285/65/18 ko2s. Here’s a better shot.

Highly recommend pairing these wheels with the oem center caps… they’re a perfect match.

Nice… those are like 150 lbs. If only dissent had plans to ship that bumper they’ve been working on.

I guess test drive both see how you feel. You may not like the way the AHC drives. Docyota didn’t. I will concur that comfort setting is VERY soft… but sport and sport plus do a nice job of tightening things up. Maybe that’s because mine is an f sport so it has different shocks than the others.

Just know that once you go AHC there’s no switching to an aftermarket system.

One thing I’ve been wondering is what happens when you put an aftermarket suspension on a vehicle with avs… theres connectors and modules at the top of the shocks. The modules would be discarded with the shocks and the connectors would have to be zip tied off to the side and the system would be unused. Surely that would trigger some warning lights or malfunction messages and to visit your dealer.

More on the dealer allocation of AVS v/s AHC, I am told that only Premium models come with AVS.

F-Sport and Luxury models come with AHC.

So for those of you who own F-Sport or Luxury, is the driving experience that different?

AHC is an option on the Luxury and sport, but they are not shipped without it “added” from the factory.

Technically they are optional on the f sport and luxury trims… I think most come with it though.

I can’t really comment on how non f sport models drive. I wanted the front end styling and the LSD so I was never interested in a premium or luxury trim.

Recently bought a lx600 for the boss (wife). Have had a good bit of LC’s including (4) 200’s ranging in all years from 2009 - 2019 (still own the 2019 w/ 27k on the clock - hope to never sell).

My assessment. The Lexus’s ACH is cool as it allows you to lift the car 3-4 inches even cruising at 90 mph. HOWEVER, it bounces. Yep, bounces, kinda like a Civic with H&R Springs. Kk, it isn’t that bad but the bounce is definitely there. All this said, I’d take my KDSS in the 200 over the lx600 suspension all day long. It may not handle like a GT3 but damn, it’s comfy!!
